These are some photos of the last trail ride of the year with Beltway Jeepers. We hit the trails in the George Washington National Forest. The ride started well and we all had fun despite the dropping temperature. We even played around in some of the mud holes before moving on down the trail. Towards the top of the mountain, one of the jeeps broke a rear track bar mounting bracket right off his rear axle. Some of the guys came up with the idea of using winching straps to hold his rear axle in place to get him off the trail. A few of us rolled out with him while the rest of the group stayed to camp at the top of the mountain. When we got our buddy down to some hardball, we found a little gas station and asked if they knew anyone that had a welder. After some phone calls, the kind lady finally reached someone that agreed to let us use their welder to weld his track bar mounting bracket in place. I think the whole repair at this person's house took about an hour and a half...I cannot remember for sure. Anyway, we left and made the 100 plus mile drive home with no further problems with his track bar. Here are some photos. The photos may not be too exciting, but it is hard to get good photos from inside the jeep.
