Looks like Im moving to the Macon, GA area. Any opinions on the area? Im into fishing, camping, and obviously Jeeps. Oh and beer, lets not forget beer. I have two Jeeps right now and Im debating selling one before I leave AK. One is my DD 05 TJ and the other is a CJ7 on one tons that I was building to save wear and tear on my TJ since trails here are not friendly to anything, haha. Is there much for rocks and trail riding in that area or am I mostly looking at mud? Google is not bringing as much info as I want to make a decision concerning selling one of my jeeps!

I know this is not much help for ya, but I also jsut got to the Atlanta Area and am looking for people/places to wheel. My jeep is set up for the Southwest, mainly for rocks and such, but willing to run it anywhere jsut to get outta the house. I have found a website for a north GA 4x4 club, www.gatrailriders.com (http://www.gatrailriders.com) and have signed up on that website. Currently I'm stuck in Kuwait, but will be back soon.

I am a new member here but have been living in Athens For 8 years now. I ride with the "Georgia Crawlers" out of Atlanta. There are several ORV parks we drive to...River Rock in Milledgeville; they have lots of open rides and have drawn some large crowds for events including live bands and such. Good camping with primitive restrooms and showers. There are two good ORV parks just across the line in Alabama...Mountainside and Morris Mountain. Morris Mountain is a little more established. But Mountainside is a great place to ride too. Beasley near Blairsville Ga is another good park but you have to watch the weather there because it is "slippery when wet" and they close it at the drop of a hat. Legal and established parks are the only way to go here. Georgia Power has a tendency to "impound" vehicles on their power line trails.

Thanks, good info. Sad to see that Ga is much like the rest of the east where you must go to established parks instead of just go out and find random trails, but sounds like some of those parks are pretty good ones so Im lookin forward to trying them out.
