The wife and I are entertaining the thought of early retirement, within the next couple of years. She has a sister who has just bought a house in Taccoa, Ga. and will be moving into it around Jan. Looking at Properties on the MLS listings in that area, it looks promising. Anyone have any knowledge of the area they would like to share. We will be making a trip down in Jan. or Feb. to check it out, but we would like to get some insight beforehand.

I retired Jul 01 in Athens. We are about 1 hr from Toccoa...beautiful area. We love hitting the B&B's in that area...Helen, Tallulah Falls, etc., on weekends. I prefer going to Gatlinburg when we can find the time, but this offers shorter day or weekend trips. Some great hiking and water falls. Be sure to check out as many of the web sites for that area including the Chamber of Commerce. Check out what events may be happening during your trip. The closest ORV park that I can think of is Beasley Knob in Blairsville about 40 minutes NW, but they may not be open during that timeframe. Very nice place up there. I grew up in Forsyth and Gainesville area but went to Toccoa many times had relatives there. I will be retiring in the Gainesville area in 4-5 more years.
