Lucky save or.............complete fool? I am sure when he got up that morning he did not plan to stand where he did and allow himself the opportunity to be crushed to death.

Am I being to hard on the spotter? Well, lets talk about the driver......

We all like the open airiness of our rigs and the majority of us would have had the doors off but as cool as it may be putting your arm outside the vehicle in those conditions it is wrong. He should have had them on the wheel. If you think I am wrong, listen to the crowd tell the spotter to let it go and the spotter (or bystander) telling the driver to get his arm in. I am sure the driver was trying to catch it as well.

Easy to sit here and be an armchair quarterback? Nope, just making a point in hopes that everyone stays safe doing an inherently dangerous activity, hobby, passion or in some cases work.

I watched a guy put his arm out once, and the jeep caught about 3 inches before his hand did. He pulled it in immediately. When we got out, I just looked at him funny and he knew right off the bat. Lucky to learn from a mistake without it going bad.

As for the spotter, well I've never been one, but I don't see myself sitting under a tumbling jeep. Bet the driver bought him a beer that night though.
