This weekend I went to "Pick Up The Mountian" which was one of the many events this weekend sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association where clubs take a section of National Forrest, Beach or other area frequently used by our collective clubs and pick up trash, do trail repairs, etc. Part of Cascade 4x4's went tot he beach and some of us went to Naches to do the mountain trails used during this summer's Trail Jam event. On Saturday we had over 60 vehicles, 90% Jeeps and headed out to differant areas. By the end of the day we had filled a 30' roll off dumpster with trash. 99% of the trash we picked up was not on the "Jeep Trails" but on the NFS Roads that lead to them that any one can drive on. Sunday I headed out with a group doing trail repairs on Rattle Snake. Just before we left, the trail boss came to me and said "You coming with us?", I said "I was planning on it!" to whcih he said, well your to big...first time any one has ever said that to me http://s1.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif "How long would it take you to remove your snorkel, drop the windshield and you may want to remove all your roll bar padding...and as long as you don't care about body panel damage you'll be okay." Well we were leaving in 5 minutes so I opted to ride with Ed in his 1948 Willy's flat fender. Ed rescued the rusting Jeep out of a field and it now has a Chevy 4.3L V-6 and automatic riding on Toyota axles and is one very capable Jeep. The three YJs and one TJ in the group did suffer body damage and they were smaller than my TJ, and there were places where the Willy's roll bar on both sides was rubbing on the trees, 4' - 5' diameter red cedars that make up the Wenatchee Forrest. It was a great day, a lot of work got done and I was glad I was riding and left my daily driver "BIG" TJ back at camp http://s1.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif
