This maybe a silly notion, but did you check your shift linkage?

The linkage is under the lever and under the tub.

it is on the driver side of the transfer case, has a rod that attaches to the body tub and one that attaches to the transfer case about 8" or so long with a swivel mount on the body. I will see if i can try to dig up a pic for you if you cant find it. hope this helps,

oh the best way to tell what this is is get under the jeep. (chalk tires) and have a buddy cycle the transfer case level in the cab and watch for what moves and if it is not hooked up to the transfer case that will be your problem.

Nope, no touchy, but if the handle doesn't move anything that's the first place to look. After that it's x-fer case.

did you get that part grinded down (don't know if you ever finished that)? Did you ever find that spring and put it back in(I remember you couldn't find it)? did you align the shifter fork properly in the positioning bracket(that's what happened to me)?

eyp we grinded the fork downto were the cup sat flush no problem. the spring i had all along just forgot to put it back on the last time, so that is done, and we did not touch the forks or gears since you put it in so i would assume it was on there right

The last thing I can think is to flip the big gear (the one with the brass gear) around. A guy on another board thought that's what happened to me when mine was stuck in 4HI. Turned out the fork positioning.

Of course. If you can, get the shop opened up earlier this week and I'll get over there for an hour or so. I have a paper due this week and am behind cause of last weekend.
