Red Sands, NM

A beautiful Fall day and time to kill, what better excuse to head out into the desert. After passing it on our way to El Paso last month I have been wanting to explore the area. Red Sands is a large track of BLM land set aside or off road travel (mainly ATV and motos)

Southern New Mexico seems to be little traveled on the site, my goal to show what a diverse and beautiful place it can be, so maybe more folks will want to come and explore.

I attended the NCO Academy at Fort Bliss and we had to do land nav in that exact terrain in downrange Bliss, which is in southern New Mexico. The ditches in between cacti are deep enough that I couldn't see the horizon.

Yea, the land looks flat, but there are some pretty big woop de dos, hills and depressions. Hard to capture on film, but makes for fun driving.

Don't know how long that has been there, but when I was there from 82-85 I never saw it. Sure wish I would have known it was there.

i haven't seen red sands in a while PCSd to carson in july from bliss. went there all the time.
