I was driving Rt 301 this morning. Keep in mind I can't go much over 60mph with the 4banger and 33's so I keep it at the speed limit.
Anywhoo, next thing I know is I have flashing lights rapidly coming up my 6. I pull off to the side to let him go by, apparently. Next thing I know he's stopping Me. The typical question comes out of my mouth. His response was that I didnt do anything wrong he just wanted to look at my Jeep and show me a picture of his. Real nice 77 getting a new lift, cant remember all details. Just wanted to share this wierd/cool experience..
They cant just pull you over to talk!!!

That's funny as hell. Better to get stopped for a talk than a ticket!

That happened to me once in Alabama when I was visiting my folks, but it was a pretty small town and the first thing he did was told me that I had not done anything wrong and asked if he could take a look at my bike (was on the Harley). I thought it was a pretty nice compliment for the bike to catch the dude's eye that much so I didn't mind.

Funny. I had a MP pull me on Belvoir to look at the Mustang. I was sure he was pulling me for speeding...mainly because I was. But he ignored that and checked out my car.

That happened to me one night in my mustang i past a cop going the other direction next thing i new he flipped around and pulled me over. I thought i was doomed. He walked up and says wow that thing sounds good what do you have done to it i want mine to sound like that. 3 weeks later we were pulling his motor out and putting in a new one. lol
I wish they would stop me just to talk--but alas they like givign me tickets.

OK, I am in no way a police hater....best friend is a cop, dad was a cop, grandfather was a cop. So that is not my issue.
I am glad he wanted to talk and show pictures and all but it is pure BS that he utilized his lights to pull you over to chat. It is wrong on a number of levels.....I am just guessing his department does not have on-board video w/audio. Those that do automatically start recording when the take-down lights are activated. The officer has limited notes he can add but the tape cannot be deleted and is turned in after his shift.
Ol well, I am glad he was a Jeeper and all. Probably a young rookie if I had my guess. Sort of like a damn Privet thing to do.
Well, being one of the few resident MP's on the board, I'll toss my two cent's in. I've never pulled anyone over just to drool over the car. I have on more than one occasion stopped at an already parked car, and waited for the owner to appear to then drool. I would say that its a bit over board to effect a traffic stop just to chat with someone, much better to just wait till you reach a traffic light and pull up beside and talk like a human.
On an officer safety note, however. It's much safer for said cop to engage his lights and run it like a regular traffic stop incase you turn out to be some meth head on a bender who just robbed Wal-Mart of its supply of Ephidrine. :D
When I do get back to Belvoir after iRaq (much like an iPod, but less stable and doesn't like the eject option) I'll be sure to stalk all of you. Especially that blue Mustang. I won't pull you over, I'll just follow you around and make you think you've done something wrong.
