So last november I was hit by an 18 yo girl and totaled my Honda commuter car.... I wasn't going to buy a replacement car until fall but some Chrysler offers have got me thinking.
1st is that Chrysler is offering a lifetime full warranty on the drivetrain for as long as you own your vehicle. Pretty sweet coverage.....
Then today they announced $3.00 gasoline for 3years up to 700 gallons annually.
So I was thinking of getting a Jeep Compass as a commuter car... anyone ever dealt with one of these?

My brother in law has one. If you do for some reason get one of these things, get the rally edition. They look a lot sweeter. My brother in law has a normal one with some nice add ons. Not a lot of power in the 4 banger, but he laughed when I told him my gas mileage. I would consider the rally edition for sure.

I own a Patriot for my commuter ride its less gay than the Compass but gets the same gas milage and has more interior space
I am too stubborn / stupid to get a DD that gets good gas mileage.

Right after the Saudi's began openly discussing dropping the dollar as a guide for oil pricing.
Screw it, I'm keeping the Wranglers and driving 'til I'm out of money!! I heard "experts" say $10 a gallon in next 2 years possible w/increased demand from India and China and no increased output from OPEC...Why should OPEC increase production? They are just making more per barrel....No incentive for them......Am going to dustoff the mountain bike when I get home though. Am not looking forward to biking at -25* with 40mph winds and 3 feet of snow this winter ..... Wait, that's when I'll drive a jeep!!:)

That is just too screwed up. WTF? I am so sick of gas getting more expensive. I have been spending about $60 a week for a dodge neon.

Bro...$170 this week in my Rubi! (had to make 2 trips up to the district in addition to normal 45 mile each way commute!)
I've driven several rentals cars lately from Chrysler with the 2.4l World Engine and what I suspect is a CVT transmission. They are just scary slow and unpredictable. The transmission seems to be psychotic. Maybe it is because they are rentals and so many different drivers are passing through them the transmission cannot learn a particular habit. I would rather keep my 12 year old mini van (3.3L gets 21 around town and 25 mpg on the road with 146K miles on it) than buy one of those cars (Caliber?). Don’t know if the Compass is running the same drivetrain.
