FT Carson or FT Lewis (For the good wheeling spots, hunting, fishing, and moderate climate.)
Colorado Springs sucks A$$!!! Overran by Air Force and they treat the Army Soldiers like Sh!t. Think of us as 3rd world citizens. If they had a motto, it would be fine by me, as long as it is not my kid. I did my recruiting duty out there and if you ever watch South Park...They are jsut that dumb. (Hope I did not offend anyone...not my intention).

i dont think its that bad here. ive been here for 7 almost 8 years and everyone i met/meet in the army doesnt mind it here. a little self defense this is a huge military town with 4 air force bases and one army base. so we may out number you a little bit but imho i honestly think the army has more numbers than we do

ummmmm... i think we should start our own military community in New Hampshire!!! just a thought! but really, all the suggestions thus far are good ones imho. I always think about alaska though when it comes to all the out doors stuff that is if you think you can handle it getting a bit... chilly!

I still have to find out what all they are offering with duty stations, but I figured I would get a couple of ideas first.

Stay in Germany.
I'm with Resovoirdawg...stay in Germany. calculate your pay without COLA. Sucks!!! I have been here 9 years. COLA rules!!! and we have Jeep parks. Sorry about the Colorado Springs earlier/Recruiting just left me a little salty. If I had to go stateside though. Ft. Lewis is beautiful. Lots of outdoor stuff and not as cold as Alaska. Ft Irwin? Desert climate and lots of offroading opportunities. Las Vegas is an hour or so away.

I'll toss an off the beaten path one at you: Yuma Proving Grounds, Arizona. The city is actually coming around, its an hour to the sand dunes, the entire state is practically a national forest and YES, with a permit you drive just about anywhere. YPG is growing and you're an hours and change from Phoenix (All the major sports), the colorado river is about 30 minutes for boating and fishing. Beats Irwin hands down on access. The other option for off roading would only be Carson or Lewis on the west coast. Hood is ....decent but they are nutty about the ranges. That's about it..
