I am new to this group, and I have been back for about 90 days. I really don't know much about Colo. Springs. I know a few pizza places, an Orthodox Coffee Shop/Book Store, an auto body shop, a car rental place and that is about it. ANy place that has good food (pizza, burgers, steaks, etc.) is fine by me.

Dave

Short answer: no. Long answer: if you get permission from range control and have a hunting license and go during the proper season, you can "wheel" on your way to your hunting site downrange. I have been just about everywhere on downrange Carson in a M998 with FBCB2. There are some awesome places and even some historical ones. You just have to be careful and follow the rules when "hunting".

I'm game for the 1800 time frame at Fargo's... won't be able to wheel that day though.

Irish, reservations are a good idea so staff knows where to direct attendees as they arrive, Fargo's is a pretty good size resturant.

im gonna make the reso for about 20 going off of the traffic on this post based off of people and familys should have a few extra incase anyone else shows up.

if anyone plans on showing up and havent posted yet please do so that i may have a more accurate count for the reservation. i will be making the reservation tomorrow morning so please post up if your coming

Back to four wheelin', I was looking all over the web. I saw a few places listed, but know nothing about them.

Rampart Pange Rd/Mount Herman
Eagle Rock
Mount Baldy
Independence Trail
Shelf Rd/Gold Belt Tour

Does anybody know of these places, or whether or not they are open, or if there are better places.

Well it looks like the weather will prevent four wheelin', but I think I can still make it to Fargo's.

wo wo wo wo...... weather NEVER prevents wheelin. if anything bad weather causes one to find the keys quicker so they can be there at the worst point so one could test themselves and/or rig. :rolleyes:NEVER:rolleyes:

can someone just make up a time and place and everyone just try to make it.

My avatar is a picture of Eagle Rock in the background. Click on the link in my signature for "Colorado Trip Reports" for Mount Baldy. Before Brandon deployed, he could have told you about Shelf Road. It's a dirt road that runs between Cripple Creek and Caņon City. I haven't done Independence yet, but am researching it for next Spring. Rampart Range Road starts at Garden of the Gods and runs all the way north of Monument and is nothing more than a graded dirt road and not really a Jeep trail but still scenic. All of these are open all year long, but it kind of depends on your Jeep's modifications and your driving experience and abilities. Hope this helps and as time goes by, I'm sure you'll be wheeling with us on these trails.

i'm workin today but i'd recomend FR 379 or seran wrap. both of those are accessible (379 will have lots of snow). as for independence trail.... well i haven't met anyone in MJ with a jeep that is built for that trail. it's deffinitly extreme and requires lockers and a winch is extremely useful. although that's just heresay as i've never been there but heard lots of stories and have done a lot of research.

I just came back from. I drove Rampart Range from garden of the Gods all the way to Woodland Park...almost. I took the first turn left into Woodland Park. I picked up a bite to eat, went to Colo. Springs and paid a bill, then I came home. Is Fargos still on? BTW,does Fargos have a dress code?
