Transfercase Rear Output seal

What is the proper technique for replacing that damn thing. i replaced it twice this week and it's still F*cking leaking. I've only got two seals left before I burn this mother to the ground.

have you cracked the whole case face? Maybe bring it to the shop and crack it in half and work on a bench. Maybe you can see something you can't laying underneath it. Dunno what to tell you bud.

I looked at the FSM and it seems just as you would expect. They called for a certain tool to install it, but that looked like a fancy socket that fits around the seal. The manual does say to use a liberal amount of petrolium jelly, so as to not damage the lip during installation. I've never replaced one before, but went through 2 rear main seals before that quit leaking on my YJ.
