View Full Version : Ft. Bragg Roll Call
Who here is stationed at Ft. Bragg or Pope AFB? What do you wheel?
I have a 97 TJ and a 98 XJ but both are in a garage up in PA but will be coming down after Christmas Exodus.

spent 6 years there, unfortunately before i bought my jeep... I have family there and will be spending some time in the spring lake area during thanksgiving and christmas so i may be up for some wheeling while im in the area.... just make sure you stay off the drop zones!
I've passed the word about the site to a few bubbas, we'll see how it catches on. I've got stickers coming, but since my rig is Primer Red right now, they might not get very much attention . Maybe after a few passes behind the house (creek) and some "mother earth" all over it, I'll just clean the stickers off.....that'll get the word out.
I'm going down to Range Control this week to see what LEGITIMATE areas there are so we can plan a ride without getting negative attention.
I'll post what it takes to wheel with honor on this forum since we have an identity now.
Thanks to whomever allowed us this opportunity!!!!
Get the word out!!!!

Any news on where to wheel from range control? If not maybe we should get a petition together to have a certain area set off for wheeling?

Go see Joe Johnson over at MWR headquarters (next to the bank at Mini-Mall). Tell him about the organization (Military Jeepers) and that you'd like to have an area designated for jeeps to ride offtrail....If you like tell him that you are friends with me (Dave Sawicki) and that I told you that MWR might be developing some offroad trails as part of the Smith Lake Master plan....This guy is very receptive to the idea of doing more for the soldiers and it is something we discussed before I left last August......good luck!!

Hi all, My name is Marc Lafo. I am stationed at Sunnypoint in Southport. I am active duty Army. Right now I am a OPS/TNG NCO. I am about 2 hours from bragg. I just purchesed my first jeep. Its a 2010 Wrangler 2 door. I just put 35" MTZ's and a lift on it. I would like to wheel it but have no idea where. Any help?

I've found that while it may be frowned upon, no one actually cares about POVs in the NTAs, or the training area around pike field. Those tank trails have some baby hills to test your set-up prior to making the trek to URE.

We moved to Bragg around JAN time frame and we have a 95YJ, this is our 2nd YJ. I guess there are wheelers trying to get folks together around here. we live out in LINDEN OAKS on 87 between spring lake and sanford.

From being on Bragg for about 12 yrs off/on, here are MY PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS about wheeling in the NTAs....
It is against post policy.
Now, that being said........
You can check with fish and game out at McKellar's Lodge and find out where you can go fishing.....how long it takes you to find that "perfect" fishing spot us unknown (wink, wink)
There are some decent places to LOOK FOR FISHING SPOTS around Mott Lake out Chicken/Plank roads.
STAY OFF THE DROP ZONES. STAY OFF THE DROP ZONES. STAY OFF THE DROP ZONES!!!!
I'm an MP and I can honestly tell you that in all my years working the road on Bragg, pretty much the only places we've been called about wheelers have been asshats playing on the DZs. Let me say that again....STAY OFF THE DROP ZONES!!!
If you're out looking for a fishing spot or where you lost your keys during training (wink, wink) and you come across Soldiers training, LEAVE!!!
Don't drive like an ass. Remember that there are Paratroopers out there training. Slow down on the tank trails, think safety.
Mott lake has tons of places to look for keys or fishing spots, it is nice after a rainy day.

Yup, and it's less than 10 min from my house! I keep losing my keys near the big mudhole on the right hand side of the lake (as facing it from Chicken/Plank rd side) and he hills on the left side. LOL

there's a group I heard about right before I deployed....bragg4x4.com I heard they meet at Cadillac Ranch monthly, but don't really know. The guys down at Wilson's Offroad know about it, I think they're a sponsor. I'm going to try to get a couple MJ meets together once I get back this summer.....

Hi! I'm Eric. I've been at bragg since '08. I work on Simmons AAF. There's a few trails around there that are *OK* for fartin around, nothing really spectacular that I've found anyway. I'll be camping at URE for Memorial weekend if anybody's going to be there. I'll be at Arrowhead. This is my ride.

Hello all, I'm new to Ft Bragg, and I just purchased a 2000 Wrangler Sahara (is that the TJ?) The Jeep was already lifted with 35in tires on it. Where is this place "Spinners"? I got some freetime Friday Night, I'm by no means Jeep savvy, but I guess the only way to learn is to mingle with those who know...

Hi! Yes you have a TJ. Hopefully the original owner opted for the Dana 44 rear axle option. If not, you have a Dana 35, and with 35's your on borrowed time. Not to discourage you, but if it were mine that would be a top priority. Post a picture so we can see it! I know a few easy trails around here if you want to test it out. Spinners is at 1800 skibo rd. I haven't been there either, I just found the address. I'm planing on showing up, is this like a hang out in the parking lot meet? Or is there going to be a huge section inside we're taking over?

Due to the wife's planning skills, we are going to be missing this meet on Raeford Road. I am sure we will make the next one, but if there is anything between now and then let us all know.

The Meet and greet is @ 7:00pm Raeford rd. fayettevile . Also , we will go inside have some food and a beverage of choice." we take over a section in the back". The owner of the place is a jeepster . i have only been to two meetings and everyone was very helpful. every type of jeep is there too. from stock to modified. And Carlos, im in the same boat ...i knew very little about Jeeps,"still do" until i bought this one.Welcome . Rubitron will be over by the Mall cruising the block for an hour before he gets to spinners, you may wanna ride over and get him on your way there. ;^)> See you guys later ! hopefully ya'll can make it. Rubitron, did you meet up with them at URE ?

Nope, I wheeled all by myself Saturday and Sunday. Well, I had the wife and daughter with me. We had a good time though! Do you have an address for spinners on raeford rd? I typed it in my phone on Google maps and it came up with 1800 skibo. That's between morganton and yadkin. And don't mock me for cruising around the mall! There's some big holes around there!! Unfortunately the construction workers are fixing them...
