View Full Version : Smittybilt SRC rear bumper
I bought a smittybilt rear bumper off of 4wd.com and installed it today. It looks and feels very sturdy. I love the D-rings and it also has a 2" receiver that I will use for a cargo rack and bike rack. Anyways, I am very pleased with it. Here are a couple pics.

Looks great bud. If you want to add substantial strength, PM Bersk about his frame tie-in kit. It's not very expensive and when you get pull someone out using the rear bumper, you'll less likely bend your rear crossmember. No drilling if I remember correctly and a very nice piece of personal insurance.
On my old TJ, I had to remove my bumper and hammer it straight again because all of the pulling had bent it out of shape during the install of my next bumper.

i got the same bumper and have had it for about 6 months and it works awesome. best bang for your buck hands down for this type of bumper
Finally got my front bumper in the mail to go with the rear. Its a Smittybilt SRC bumper. I like it and it seems really sturdy. I have the winch plate and XRC8 winch on the way too. Cant wait to throw that on there.

I've got this bumper on order right now. I'm wondering though..I've got a hidden hitch bolted to my frame..am I going to have to remove that to install this? I'd rather not as the tow rating is much better with it on...

I was looking at it this morning and I think this bumper would work fine with a hiddin hitch. The receiver doesnt hang far below the bumper at all. maybe a 1/2 inch? I thought you could get it without the receiver all together though.
I didn't notice if there was an option to have it with or without the hitch. I could have just looked right over it as I'm chillin in Afghaniland right now...and the opportunity to actually get something done on the internet is hit and miss at best...

Finally got the same bumper on mine with the tire swing. Was not a 1 or 2 hour/ beer job... But looks good. Happy it's on my jeep and off the garage floor.

I have the SB rear w/tire swing, but I'm NOT happy with mine. Only had it on a little while but it's already bending a little back away towards the rear from the weight of the 35" spare. I plan to see if I can bend it back and then figure out what I want to to to keep it from bending again.....

I have the rear bumper, the only drawback i have against it is the powder coat is weak, but other than that its a great bumper for the price.

The bumper tows well too! I don't haul anything too huge, just a 5x8' utility trailer, but it works very well. Great bang for the buck.
I bought the black Rock Crawler bumper from Smittybilt and I love it! Was greatly surprised when it arrived and found that it had a class IV hitch not just a 200lb accessory hitch like it said in the store add!
