The centering ball is shot.
You've got 2 options: rebuild or replace
You can rebuild for about $130 give or take.
Here's a link to rebuilding:

If you buy a new shaft, you can get the ones that are greasable.
If you run a lot of mud or water, it's a good idea.
Otherwise, installing a new ball and spring isn't to bad. It does help to have a second set of hands!

Either way get it done ASAP, or disconnect. Don't want it to freeze up and possibly blow up the T-case.

I'll add... if you get ones that are greaseable, you'll probably have to remove the drive shaft to actually get to the zerks in the u joints and centering ball.

Hey thanks for the input, its getting real noisy down there so I need to pull it off untill its fixed. Thanks again.
Recon, what did you do about this, because my Jeep is now chirping like crazy. I took it to big O but they said it's fine. I'm calling BS, because fine doesn't sound like this.

You need to pull it off before it fails.
I think the links I posted at the beginning of this thread have all the parts numbers for the centering ball and u joints.
Yeah done driving it today, will pull apart tonight.
Pulled the front drive shaft, but now to figure out what next. Most of the local auto parts stores don't seem to carry the centering ball. I either have to order from NAPA, or find someplace else that carries them.

Order it from Napa.... the ones around here are pretty good about getting parts in within 24 hrs.
