I think that's the Saturday that my wife's at a wedding. Mark me down as a possible if my beater is up and running. Love to come out and bend wrenches. Will you guys have a torch out there? I remember burning out bushings on coastiejeeper's yj and heating up the bolts so the sleeve would come out.

Yes Bob has a torch and a welder.
But you would be better bringing the Jeep to Bob's place. Trust me.

I can imagine. I've heard good things. However, the money I could save in gas and broken parts could go to another mod...:D or more beer.

Chris, if I go, your cheap ass can ride with me. So you can get even more parts.

Well Chris does need his annual bath.
Great guys!! Ill mark ya down and keep me posted.
03 Saraha--good luck on the U-Joints---just replaced mine and we couldnt get them out, had to finally take them to a shop to have it done.
I'll be there in spirit. In 40ish days, I'll be back in the states for my own batch of wrenching parties.
I will offer up some YJ knuckle breaking advice from my previous YJ lift install.
1) All lift kit instructions suck.
2) Air tools are god-like.
3) When in doubt, a really BIG hammer will make any bolt come loose.
4) If you have a short fuse, keep really big hammers out of your hands.
5) Really BIG hammers will also make a really big dent in your rocker panel when flung across the yard at a high rate of speed.
6) WD-40 is good to have in stock.
7) PB Blaster is better.
8) WD-40 is really flamable.
9) Avoid lighting a cigarette when your hands are coated with WD-40.
Above all have fun with the lift, it seems like there are plenty of Jeepers coming to help out.

Georgia, I have a "recipe" for something that works MUCH better than PB Blaster that I got from an old machinist...and a controlled test was done my Modern Machinist magazine a few years ago as well to prove that is works better than anything on the market. Mix 1 part ATF with 1 part acetone...shake vigorously and apply liberally. The only caveat is that the acetone will evaporate, so only mix what you are going to use in about 24 hours and use a little Harbor Freight oil can to apply it. That stuff WORKS!!! I would imagine you might need it on the old YJ.

Are these drive shaft u joints? I know I'm not that close but, if you wanted to swing by in the evening or something I can have those replaced in a jiffy.

I may be able to stop by, will know when we get closer to the 24th.
All are welcome. I will give out the address when the date gets closer.
Never worked on YJ drive shafts. On the CJ I have always used a couple of sockets and a vise. Use one socket that is the same size or slightly smaller than the bearing cap and one that is the same size at the outer portio of the yoke. Put the whole thing in the vise and start to crank on it!
You can give it a blast with WD-40/PB-Blaster or whatever and that may help a little.
Hope I'm not stating the obvious here.
