This sponsorship isnot just for Camp but Military Jeepers as a whole. I am goingto post the email they sent me word for word but it islong winded. To sum it up we supply them some names and adresses for a mailing list and they supply us an ongoing discount and raffle prizes for annuel events.
What I need is feedback on if this is a good idea or not. Do we as a club want to participate in this? I probably should have run this through Ryan or Jeff first but if MJ as a whole doesn't want to participate, the Ft LWood Chapter will likely want to.

Fred:

As you well know, many 4 wheel drive clubs solicit donations from various
vendors for their club events. We have always been happy to help those who
contact us in this regard. We currently give away many tens of thousands of
dollars annually supporting various organizations.

As our company grows, we've found that we need to get a little more
organized. We need to apply a little logic and equality for all the clubs.

We would like to set something up with yours and have developed a very
simple plan that will get your club raffle prizes, your members a discount
on product and more Internet exposure for both of us.

Please take a moment to review the plan. Nothing is set in stone. I am open
to your comments and suggestions.

4 Wheel Drive Club Sponsorship Program.

Intent:

Promote the sport of 4 wheeling
Give back to the 4 wheeling community.
Develop and establish ongoing relationships with groups & customers.
Benefit the club member by way of product discounts.
Annual support of clubs & events by way of raffle prizes. Please keep in
mind that these raffle prizes are given out only once a year and it will be
up to your club to determine the time and place of distribution.

What we ask:

Mailing list stating organization name. With a complete listing of all
members names and addresses. This will be used to verify club member status.
And to occasionally mail promotional material. This can be sent in either a
printed form or via E-mail. My intentions for the member list is, strictly
internal purposes.

Many clubs have expressed a reluctance to provide addresses for privacy
purposes. I respect this. And even though I would like the mailing address,
I do not require it or e-mail addresses for participation. But I do request
name, town & state. The intention is to be able to confirm that John Doe is
in fact a member of the club and entitled to discounts. I can assure you
that I have no intention of "spamming" your members. Or even any regular
mailings. I hate junk mail too and prefer to save trees by using less paper
rather than closing roads. At some point there may be a bulk mailing or
possibly an e-mail. I have yet to do so.

I would actually prefer the roster as an Excel, Word or Word perfect file.
If you do send this via E-mail, please send directly to me When you do send
this, please include a name and physical address (No P.O. Box #) where we
can ship the gift certificates and raffle prizes.

I also ask that you provide a link from your club web site (if applicable)
to ours. WWW.4XSHAFT.COM (http://www.4xshaft.com/) I have included banner art for this purpose.

What we will provide:

Various raffle prizes, as available, and higher dollar amount Gift
Certificates for your club, redeemable at Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts.
To be used at your discretion, The intended use would be raffle prizes etc.

Previously we have offered Club Member discount of $20.00 on any drive shaft
purchased from Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts Inc. One discount per drive
shaft, order two and receive a $40.00 discount. However, It is my belief
that all the club members were not aware of this offer and we have improved
this (we think). Now we will send out a $40.00 gift certificate (one for
each member on the roster) and ask that you distribute these to your
members.

We will also provide a reciprocal link from our web site to yours. If you
have banner art, that you would like us to use for this purpose, please
forward this to my web administrator. His E-mail address is
Randy1@utbiz.com (Randy1@utbiz.com) Please also send along a text link to your site.

Of course we will continue to strive to provide the best product & service
that is humanly possible.

As a final note, when e-mailing on the subject, please use your clubs full
name in the subject line of the E-mail. For example; Wheelers 4 Wheel Drive
Club rather than W4WDC. I think this will help me a lot in the
administration of this program.

I also want to let you know that I will be leaving town this Saturday for
the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. I will not be returning until
Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. I will not be able to respond until after I
return.

Thank you,

Tom Wood

Just my two cents, for what we are asking for sounds pretty reasonable. Think about all these groups that ask for free stuff and all they get is there name in print and a tax write off. I have meet Tom before at Easter jeep Safari, very good person to talk to. Anyway fred I am ok with what he asking. Can find all that out by skimming online anyway.

Sounds good to me. And I've been looking at new drive shafts as well, what timing. Helps MJ spread the word as well.
