View Full Version : JK rock sliders.....
Are the oem rocksliders on the '07-'08 Rubicons pretty durable or should I just replace them from the start? Anyone have any info? .. I like the Shrockworks sliders on my '03 better anyway............

I have Shrockworks Sliders on order, frame mounted and also keeping the stock rubicon sliders on board. I should have them the end of the month or so. Ordered them this way so I could us a highlift on the sides, if needed, with no worries.
the stock ones will protect your rockers for a while, but they dont provide a good hi-lift point.
Wife gave me the ok to get the Shrockworks Sliders when I get home....I figure when I order will probably just get the Shrockworks front bumper too to replace the stock monstrosity that Chrysler decided to put on the JKs........Maybe the lift too if I can afford it...then need the wheels and tires.....evap can relocater kit.....winch too.....Jeeps are never done!!:)

Well I dont have a JK, but I have an opinion about the factory Rubicon sliders. Mine held up and took some hard rock hits and all looked well, but when I took them off to put on my Gen Right sliders, I found some seriously messed up body panels. On my passenger side it wrinkled some of the mounting holes up wards like almost an inch which made me have to perform some serious hammer work to get the body flat to put the new ones on. It did that on all the bolt holes that took rock hits near by which was quite a few on both sides, but some were worse then others. I say can them and get some good after market ones if you intend on hammering your ride.

You getting the Mid Width or Stubby bumper? I'm leaning towards the Mid Width and the full rear bumper...
I put the TeraFlex sliders on mine. Poison Spyder customs makes some nice ones too if you're looking for something with a bit of a "wow" factor. :D

I'll look into those too before I order. I have the Shrockworks sliders on my 03 and I like the way they fit, etc. but am not locked into anything, will look at those others online now.......

Am looking at the midwidth as it's going on a daily driver with a planned "mild" 2" Old Man Emu lift w/35 TrXus.......

Poly Performance has some really nice ones that have received some really great reviews. Can search some of the other forums as well and read on what those who've installed feel. Haven't seen a negative comment from an owner yet, though.

I have had the Shrockworks for over a year now, and love 'em so far...
they were a lil' different to put on Bessy as she's a Mutant between a CJ frame and front clip and a YJ tub from the firewall back....I like how they tie in to the frame....took awhile to receive them since they were backed up on orders, but really helpful on the "hybrid" install.... "Just use a BIGGER BFH to put them on!"

in addition to being mostly crap (mine are on my garage floor), you'll have to whack the back end off about two inches for any real room for 35's. i've got the OME kit with 35's on now.
