ok i got the front end mock assembled for the reason of getting a rolling chassi going. I do however need some YJ bushings if anybody has some old one laying around they dont want.

Got the body sitting on the frame now, front end is mocked up and looking good. Need to finish the 14 bolt and get it mounted so i have a rolling chassis. Motor and trans will go in next. You can see the Novak LT1 mounts mocked up on the frame. It sits a whole lot taller than i thought it was gonna. This jeep is gonna be a PITA to get in and out of

thanks man, yea I had to take the motorcycle to my moms house, somehow there is still the bench, fridge, tool box, and 4 wheeler in the garage. It makes it a PITA, new house soon with 2 car garage, I cannot freakin wait.

Nice work man, I know that feeling my lil garage sucks too lol 19 x 22. I'm putting the same running gear into my CJ-8 project sans the trans I'm going with the nv4500. I'll be watching your build! The novak mounts loook interesting. They seem to have a ton of adjustability.
mavdog32
05-06-2010, 22:37
yea I am hoping the novak mounts will give me enough clearance to have the D300 clocked without any crazy driveshaft set ups. Thats gonna be a sick setup in a CJ-8 i wish i could have gone that route but the 8 have gotten way to expensive

Got a lot done, will get some pics up tonight hopefully. New crossmember has been built, body work has begun, motor trans and tranfer case all mounted. Swapped to XJ springs in the rear. I will have some made one its done so I can weigh it and determine the size lift spring I will need to match the spring over front, doing spring under in the rear for simplicity.

ok kinda did a 180 in the past few months. I decided to go with an aftermarket frame and picked up an Advanced Frame Works CJ-7 Frame. Then decided leafs werent gonna ahck it and went and got the gen right 4 link kit with coilovers and mounts. Here is where she sits after last night. Everythignis tacked into place right now, cycled a lot and no bindong so I will prob leave it this way until the front is ready then I will final weld everything.

I really hate that bindong!!
Looks great man! I bet you can't wait to drive it, eh?
With just 1" body lift, you can clock the D300 flat without hacking the tub.
Being as you have an auto, you probably don't want it flat anyway (driveshaft/tranny/starter clearance)
Looking good Mavdog!

lmao 00i00 so I need to proof read once in a while!
Its clocked up right there and it has a custom built skit/crossmember made for it that damn near flattens out the belly. The frame has a 2" lift built in but I am gonna cut them off and drop it as low as possible. The skinny drive shaft clear well once I dented in the pan a little. I will have to cycle it with a shaft in one I get the front mocked up to make sure though.

Hey guys, so I had this idea running through my head for a while that I want to dedicate this build to those who were KIA during the build ( since December 09) I know its cheesy and "been done" or whatever but I dont care, this is what i want to do. I am a desk jockey for the most part and have a deep respect for those in the shit so I feel this is the least I can do.
My question is, does anyone know where I can find KIA reports for this period?
The names will be listed on the Jeep somewhere.
Also I remember seeing someone posting a link to this place that sells military uniform fabric. I wanna make a top out of the ABU fabric.

Been busting my ass on this thing lately, how I am still married I am not sure. I am getting so close I can smell it, or is that the paint?? Anyways here is where I am at...
Threw down a ghetto garage paint job, didnt turn out too bad. Decided to just spray paint the armor for easy repair.

The only things left on the checklist to drive it are as follows:
Steering shaft, shorten the driveshaft I have, finish plumbing brakes, steering, and cooling, buy a shifter, a drivers seat at minimum for now, a throttle cable, trans pump(already ordered), fluids, gauges(volt, temp, pressure for now), and and I need to final weld the front end. I expect to be done around the end of May at the rate I am going right now. I am concerned mildly with the brakes, I am running hydro boost and am not gonna port it for now and see if I can get away with it as is for a bit. Once its done I will finish off the gauges and re gear/lock the axles. Neways plenty of work to go but I should be at least driving it by June.
Simple....I hope so man, lookin forward to wheelin with ya man.
Mike, what are you gonna change with your rig??? That things pretty much set

now its running, also got the headlights (h4 conversions), taillights, and backup lights wired. Got a lot of other wiring done. Taking my driveshaft I have for it to get modified this week and I am waiting for my diff cover and battery tray from ballistic fab to show. I need to measure my steering shaft length to see if a stock shaft will work or if I am going to have to buy a new one. Side note, why in the hell are steering shafts so expensive?

Here are some gratuitous flex shots of the Jeep before the steering box took a crap. A break in run to Moab was probably not the best idea but hwatever it was still fun. My engine issues were resolved by a new set of injectors...

RAM? I know fuelsman and I decided that would be the best closest wheelin place to break in his new long arm kit we installed. Don't know if he would be up to it this weekend though.

yea i was thinkin about RAM, I already called them to make sure there wasnt anything going on this weekend and its clear. I am thinking Saturday morning, I had a coil go out on me last night driving it around the neighborhood so I might have an electrical problem as it have now gone through an alternator and two coils.
SO anyone down for RAM Saturday morning? I will probably make another thread here in a bit for this specifically

Ok so I got a bumper build mainly so I have a recovery point. Anyways its just 2x4 and some tabs i picked up. Was really torn on whether to weld it on or build tabs, i obviously welded it on. Cant think of many reasons I would ever need to take it off. Getting a little better at this welding thing
