View Full Version : New from Lorton VA
My name's Chris and I have a '95 YJ Rio Grande. Got it as a gift from my parents last year, they were going to donate it, but I asked for it just days before the pickup. It had only 19,700 miles on it when i went to pick it up from their house in Maryland. Since I've picked it up, I've done the following:
New Top - "cab top"
New Power steering lines
New Brake lines
Replaced PCM
Installed Pioneer Head unit
Mounted new 16" Cragar wheels with Wrangler ST tires (street machine for now)
Bought new sound bar speakers - not installed yet, custom mount being fabricated.
Doors-off mirrors (windshield mounted)
Restitched the driver's side window
Painted the underbody and removed some rust
Sprayed bed liner on the rear bed (plan to do the rest of the cab later this month)
Started the OD Green paint job (now finished)
FUTURE plans include:
Suspension
Bumpers
Axles
Fenders
Motor swap

Wlecome aboard lots of great people here
Oh, yeah, me! I'm currently in my last year of my enlistment. Serving in the Army Reserves at Ft. Belvoir VA. Joined the Reserves last year in July after 3 years on IRR. Did 3 Years active as 11B. Was stationed at Ft. Myer VA and was in the Old Guard. Got my Airborne wings straight out of basic and got my EIB about 6 months after arriving at Ft. Myer.
Supposed to be re classing to Intel Analyst, but with less than 12 months left in my enlistment and currently being on profile for a surgery (injured back in 2003 - army told me that it was tendinitis, it was actually a severed ligament - now fixed, but still in a cast) might hamper my reclass.
Anyway.. here I is. I own and run my own military based website as well, and we've recently had a successful meet to collect donations to send to Walter Reed and Overseas. www.militaryperformance.com if anyone is interested in checking it out.

That's about 5 miles from my office, maybe I'll swing by on my way home
Thanks for the heads up!

Danke! :D
Welcome.
Very nice job on the bedliner. I had mine done "professionally" and it doesn't look as nice.
Are you going to paint the whole Jeep the color of the tailgate?

Thanks! That was two $11 cans from Advance Auto Parts! Going to get 3 more for the rest of the Jeep.
Yes, the whole Jeep will be the color of the tailgate. Doors and Hood next, the body last. At $6/can, I plan on doing it in stages.. hopefully one stage every weekend.
So I've been looking at some old JP and 151 rigs and noticed that some of them had Blackout lights. I looked around on the 'net and found a couple for a good deal. Would that be just too much, or would it go with the ArmyJP theme? Opinions?
Also thinking about mil-spec sidemarkers

Cool! I'm almost always around on the weekends (I try to keep my gas in the tank for at least 15 days!). Let me know if you need help with anything. Got a garage with tools and a decent driveway to work in too.
