I thought I would post this as a warning to those who live in/visit the Ft Belvoir, VA area.

Two people at the M&G last night reported that they had their spare tires stolen off the back of their Jeep. One of them was stolen in the parking lot at the Belvoir PX! (Buddys only half a word...).

Anyway, lock'em up or loose'em.

should nt be hard to find a jeep with 4 mismatched wheels and probably different tire sizes. thanks for the info. About the only thing they will get from my jeep is a blown out knee cap and a busted lip.

Mine was the one at the PX:mad:. Now I have an excuse to get the matching wheel and tire :D

A length of cable from Home Depot and a 5200 series lock will go on the new one.

While I didn't volunteer for the rear-ending, I can't say the same for the "Birdcage" house-boy outfit.

What a shame, I really hate a thief too. Are you guys just talking about lug-locks for that spare tire?

I hate to say it, but if someone wants your spare, they're gonna get it. The best prevention for keeping your spare tire is only carrying it when you are going wheeling or on a trip.

I'm just gonna but a bike chain thru it and around the carrier.

Someone carries (can't remember who??) locking lug nuts for Jeeps, that have 5 matching lock nuts, so your 4 tires and spare have the same lug 'key'.

I use a Master lock "Python" cable, it's 6 ft long, and the end feeds through the lock, similar to a zip-tie. The end is the same diameter as the cable, so it fits through the holes in the Hi-Lift jack. Mine secures my spare, the gerry can, Hi-Lift and ''D'' handle shovel to my swing out tire carrier.

Wally World carries them at around 17 buck ea.

I have a locking lug for my spare (which obviously is MIA for now). Hell, that slows ME down!

F'ing pisses me off, think I'll just park then go to my hide in the treeline with a silenced .22...but got me thinking that I should lock it up too...

What did the MP's have to say about the tire that was stolen on Ft. Belvoir? I know in days gone buy, things that happened like that on post were paid for. Not so sure these days....
