We went out to 'The Dumps' in Hope Mills on Sunday. Thanks to sebek31 for showing us how to get back there. We had a great time, and everybody drove home under their own power!

I had a great time we need to get more people together! especially with the dumps being so close and the swimming hole was awesome! hopefully I'll have my xj ready to go for the next outing! Here are a few more pictures!

your trip to uwharrie is this weekend, if I am not mistaken... Let's try to hit up the dumps next weekend, again. I have talked to a couple of guys that were interested (one was a Non-Jeep owner but we can forgive him, I think...), but if we set a weekend, we can find others to attend, right?!

I talked to a guy that said he could have gone if I had let him know, he'd be an XJ buddy for Drew. I also know a non-jeep dude (FJ Loser) that might go. I might even be able to talk him into getting stuck somewhere. :cool:
So, the Uwharrie trip is this weekend. How's next weekend work for everybody, Saturday Aug 7. I'm going to ask my two guys (XJ, FJ) if they're free for Saturday. Jay, if you'll do the same... If anybody wants to go but on a different day, speak up soon so all parties involved can get a changed date disciminated.:beer:

I pick my toy back up with a new transmission (watch that deep water!!) tomorrow afternoon and I'm up for anywhere fairly local to Bragg this weekend.....can't make it to URE though, Wifey seems to think that I should be spending time with her instead of my Jeep my first week back??!!??

yeah, the jeep guy is an XJ bought not built, and the other has a chevy or something. I will kick the bushes and see if we can scare anything else up. It would be great to take a convoy down there. As far as this weekend, I am staying local. Getting the brake lines put between now and then. It could jump off, next weekend. We should take a grill or 2 and cook out by the swimming hole. Just a thought...
Ok, I just got all signed up here on MJ. I'm going to try and make it out to meet you guys for the next trip to the dumps. Where the heck is it though? I live in Hope Mills.

I might be able to do a short trip during the day on Friday while the kids are at camp. Sunday works better for me that Saturday, but I can push Fantasy Lake to Sunday if need be and make it there on Saturday.
I just looked at a map and c. wayne collier is only about 15 min from my house. If I drive by is it obvious where I need to turn back in or what? Is there a sign and how far back behind the school is it? I might swing by Monday or Tuesday just to check it out.
no, you will have to be taken there... im game for sunday all day but not sat if you guys wanna do that just hit me up fri or sunday.... and i think i fixed the wiring problem so test run....yay

The best/easiest way I think I can get you there is to find Mission Hill rd, and/or find (stay with me here), 17S PU 83250 71207. There is a little burm you'll drive over, follow the trail until it opens up to the power lines, take a right and go nuts!:D

I can take you our this weekend if you want to check it out. Otherwise we can set a meet up time at the Sonic on Hope Mills Road for Saturday... E- What time are we thinking here? I was thinking 10 ish and do lunch out at the swimming hole, wheel some more, creek, my place for beers, and done. Let me know what you think (all).

I pick my Jeep up today from the transmission shop, but it's been sitting for the last year while I was deployed and something's wrong with the front brakes, they're locked up......gotta figure those out, hopefully this afternoon....

My front driver brake caliper seized up while I was driving, luckily I made it home without it catching fire. I replaced everything. I got a caliper and pads at autozone for like $80, then $25 core charge back for the caliper. I was going to just get the disc cut, but o'reilys didn't have the right cone adapter. He said I could have gone to Hot Wheels by the Kangaroo on Skibo and Cliffdale and had them cut faster. It would have been $15 to cut, I just replaced it for $30.
I can't do it this weekend. I'm stuck here at work all weekend. I can't do both days next weekend either. I either have to do Saturday or Sunday, so I can go to Fantasy Lake with the kids the other day. Let me know which one you guys want to do. Last night on the way home from work I tried to find the dumps, but that was before I read all of your posts on here. At the time all I knew was "it's back behind the school on rockfish". I found the school no problem and just turned in right there and wandered through the development until I saw some big power lines and a sand "road" heading back at the edge of peoples' back yards. It had a lot of tire tracks, so I went thought I'd check it out. It went back a bit and then split. I went to the right and followed the path a short way until it started going down. It wasn't THAT steep, but I didn't have time to jump out and check it out to make sure I wasn't going down to a dead end, so I just turned around and figured I'd check it out another day. I'll have to look at a map to see exactly where I was.
and make sure you guys post a ton of pics from your URE weekend. I'm jealous.
Ok, looking at a map.... I turned down the street on the other side of the school from Mission Hill Road, Sturbridge Dr. I wound around that neighborhood and remember being on Rehobeth and Colorado. I THINK the sand road I turned on to was off of Dickens, but not positive. I turned left onto it, so I was heading in the direction of Fantasy Lakes Water Park. I guess I DIDN'T find the dumps. Oh well....I was close. I might swing by tonight for a 2nd attempt.

Hey, when was that? I was going to swing by and try to find it again last night, but I went straight home, so I'd have time to get my new exhaust installed.

Saturday or Sunday works for me I just have to know, so I can tell the wife. She hates shit on short notice and we want to go to Fantasy Lake the other day. I only get every other weekend off, so we try to cram everything into that weekend. That's why I can't make it out to do MY shit a lot of the time. I'm working on that though. It would be easier if I could get the wife and kids intrested in wheelin.
Anywho... I found the dumps last night on the way home from work. That is where I was the other day, but I was in a different section. Eric, I found that little burm and log you were talking about. I headed back through some random trails from there. I'm not sure exactly where you guys go. I underestimated how many trails there were going to be. I thought it was just going to be one little dinky trail leading to the swimming hole and shite you were talking about. The dumps f'n rock. I only messed around for about ten minutes, but I had a blast and ripped through some mud puddles. The HEEP is covered. I have to clean it up today, becasue I'd feel like a dick taking it to get new tires with mud caked everywhere. I'm either dropping it off at Wilson's today or tomorrow to get the MTZ's tossed on.
Hey, I just saw a commercial and had a thought. If we're doing this thing Saturday who would be up for getting together later that night to watch UFC 117? I don't get all of the UFC's, but this one has a great card. I want Chael Sonnen to take out Anderson Silva. BJ Penn is one of my favorite fighters, so I want him to get his belt back. I hate Bisping, so I don't care who he's fighting ....I just want to see him get his ass kicked. Plus Mir is on the card and Belcher vs. Damian Maia.... the card definitely has potential, but what excuse do any of us REALLY need to get together and drink a few beers?
So, who else is down and where do you want to do it? Out somewhere or someone with room and a big screen want to offer up their place?

I'm planning on Saturday. I'm going kayaking on the cape fear Sunday. Jay, interested? Also, Jay suggested we grill a little and go to his house for beers. If the offer still stands, Saturday would probably be better for beer drinking, in case somebody drinks too much...;)
Edit - I never really got into UFC...
I'm up for drinking some beer if I'm invited to tag along and hang out with the cool kids. I still want to watch the UFC too though :D
