View Full Version : Hope nobody got their world rocked tonight
Weather was hell here in the NOVA area. I was buttoned up in the jeep trying to do some prep work when the rain and wind hit. Sounded and felt like a tornado was coming through so I went into the house to check the news.
Someone called and said a house on Belvoir got messed up during the first round of storms tonight and I saw that a tornado supposedly hit the Falls Church area.
Hope everyone is well. Our power flickered and we lost internet for a bunch of hours, but I know the power was out in the Stafford area according to an email from a co-worker. The Stafford area has been getting hit pretty hard these past few weeks.

Huge branch down in backyard, missed house by about a foot or so.
Power was out for about 6-7 hours.
Figures there would be a power outage the night I get a new computer.
Power tried to go out at work but we have UPS and generators.......damnit.
Lots of traffic lights out between Sterling and Manassas.

Burke was like a ghost town driving in from Quantico last night. No lights at the store fronts or street lights. Pretty fun though as I have no upper halves on the door, so I got my annual shower riding home.

No damage at home.
Belvoir was an absolute nightmare to get off of yesterday. I personally feel that the Garrison Command had no plan for the amount of damage that occurred.
As I left this morning, I noticed that my housing area on Belvoir looked like someone went through and murdered almost everyone on my street. They must have used 10 rolls of police tape to keep people away from the fallen trees.
Driving around today saw lots of huge trees down. One at the end of our road that knocked out power till bout 1030pm, and another that was across a street and took out a car-still hasnt been touched and power is out in that neighborhood.
The school held the kids till the storm was over yesterday.

Those clowns...they had a road blocked off yesterday for a limb that was about 3-4 inches in diameter. You would have thought that there was a redwood laying in the road...I aksed the MP if I could go move it and he told me no as I would be intefering with an offical police function...
Needless to say I had beer with my dinner last night...

If you had called me, you could have distracted him and I would have snuck up behind him and moved the tree. That would have flipped him out when he turned around and the tree was gone.
Silly Belvoir MP's. Not to worry, I'll be back on the road in a few weeks. Picked up my award from MND-N and just waiting out another Iraqi sandstorm to get on my way back home.
Once you have had time to get to know the family again, we will have to grab a beer sometime. Congrats on the redeployment.
