Attached is a link to a great tool that will be one of my first purchases to live in the back of both the wifes Tahoe and what ever Jeep I happen to be driving. They are currently in every vehicle I rode in while on this last tour in Iraq. We used ours to build the K-9 compound down at Warhorse. It's much more compact than any other recovery tool i've seen/used. I't only as long as the axe handle. http://www.maxax.com/

Great post! I also used one of these when I was in Afghanistan. I have one of these in my Jeep and I wouldn't think of going offroad without it. Yes I also have a fullsize shovel, but the versatility the MaxAx gives me can't be matched.
