Official Itinerary:
1400-1430 Meetup/Gas up/Last Minute Supplies. (If anyone needs a 'bulk' supply run I have a Costco membership and more than happy to take you over there before the trip.)
1430-1530 Travel to Salt Shed Air Down/Disconnect location
1530-whenever Wheeling Salt Shed
Currently we plan on camping at the Dry River Entrance of Salt Shed, this offers the best opportunities for "Night Wheeling" as well as play locations while others watch and enjoy campfire.
Sunrise wake-up wheel some more, possibly a few of us do a quick scout of Dictum's Ridge to see if we wish to attempt it. I know if the XJ goes I'll make an attempt with a good spotter. I only see two or three of the Jeeps with the combination of build and driver craziness will probably do it if it is as bad as reports have been. So it will probably be a breakfast run while people are waking up and making breakfast. It was also recommended to keep this group small as it does pass fairly close to private residences.
Sunday's main wheeling will be played by ear in what everyone, who is in attendance for day two, wants to do. If we have a lead for Second Mountain that could begin the morning after the Dictum attempt.
Convoy home time is to be determined by general consensus when everyone is done having fun.
Now all the small print stuff:
While drinking while camping is permitted; drinking while wheeling ain't.
No go it alone, especially at Night. If not within earshot of your voice you are wheeling too far away from your friends that will help you. And no CB isn't earshot.
Be safe, be responsible and you will have fun regardless.
Everyone going is an adult and knows how to "behave and have fun"

Unless my wife or kid is ill, we do the jeep thing as a family. My daughter would cry all weekend if I took off in the jeep and left her. She hates it when I leave her home just to go to the auto shop, heck, she even breaks out her toy tools and helps work on the jeep in the driveway.

Currently I count 11-12 rigs possible on this trip.
I'll send out some PM's tonight to get where everyone's starting points are, for convoying down.

bill I can lead a manasshole convoy, or a burke which ever works out best.
Going on thei trip hinges on a couple of things for me.
1) Assuming I make it back from Iraq to Belvoir in time.
2) Hoping that the parts on order arrive and can be installed in time (might be doing a lot of late night wrenching in Woodlawn Housing area, 8169 Mansion Ct. N, hint hint).

dude we got headlights, floodlights on my jeep, and i sure we can scrounge some jackstands.
I'll be installing a Rubicon Express 4.5" Superflex (short arm) Kit on my ZJ. The when all depends on the frackin sand storms in Iraq. Im expecting to be home some time next week (the week of the 15th that is) I'm gonna order it as soon as the Bank of Wife approves the loan.

BOW is always slow to approve loans. I live off the principle "It's easier to beg forgivenesss, than permission", but hey do what your rank can handle. :)

Actually never seen the show, I just figured frackin was a clever substitute for what I really wanted to say about the sand storms...

I have heard some pretty weak excuses in my life but this one tops them all!
Ahh, I am just kidding & you know it. Congrats on the little one!
Just a heads up. the entrance to second mtn off 33 is locked by a forest lock and a local master lock. The only way you can access Dictum or second mtn is from fr72. I and a few others are and will be conducting a scout late sat afternoon. We will route recon a trail to connect dictum and second to make a complet loop. The forest rangers local land owners and members from FM2CD, Beltway, Nova are deciding where to install and construct obsticals pits, rock crawls and so-forth. It is possable that the rangers are going to close these trails to ORV including ATV's the weekend of the 28th. Have a good weekend guys. Hope to see yall.
We were discussing 2nd mountain at dinner last night as a possiable sunday run. If you find a trail to get us there let us know. thanks

did you go with 33 12.50???
Yeah, 33 12.50's on 15x10 rims with 3.75" backspace...
The amount of question marks you used has caused me a bit of concern...
Trimming and hammering is easily done if needed.

sweet i need to pick up a sawsall or borrow one to trim fenders for the weekend run I'll be down there at some point this week
I dont have a sawzall at the house but my angle grinder worked wonders on my old YJ. How drastic are the trails at GWNF? im wondering if it possible to just keep my sway connected and not worryabout too much rubbage.

I'm there.
I've run the lower trails there at Salt Shed a couple of times without needing to disconnect my sway bar, but being there for a couple of days I might try to goof off more this time, so I think I will disco this time...
