I'll be in the area on business, but have plenty of time for caching. Can you ride a bicycle along the riverwalk? This will determine if I want to waste my time driving out to the series I've seen out there. Any other cachers want to head out to a few in the local area?

No cycling on the river walk. There are several series here condusive to cycling within SA. There is one along Mission Trail and another in Brackenridge. There are plenty of places to cycle outside of town. One that I keep hearing about but have not done is Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Museum GCB6A8. If you can drive up to Austin (about an hour or so north) there is one I am doing tommorow, Necropolis of Britannia Manor III GC2B034.

I'll be at Randolph so a trip up to Austin will be cool. The Mission trail is this dirt or inner city concrete? I planned on brining road/XC tires, but nothing for serious climbing or rough terrain.

Mission trail is inner city concrete, Brackenridge is hard packed dirt in a nice park and should be fine for the tires you're bringing. I'm not a cyclist so you're on your own for those. If I had to chose between the two I would take Brackenridge.

Cool thanks for the info Jsargent! Now I have to find a bag large enough to stick my bike in.

Too busy to pack my Bike. Anyhow snagged 24 caches over two evenings. I'll be out in San Antonio caching all day. Goal is 45 or more for the day. Anyone want to help me get more than 50 that day? I'll drive if someone wants to navigate.

Sorry I was in test writing all day. I meant I will be in San Antonio on Sat. I don't know if it will be this or next Sat. Heck if I plan them out right I'll be out both Sats, there are so many caches.

If any MilJeepers are interested in guiding me, I'll drive, pay for gas and one of your meals. My goal is 600 before the 5th of Nov. I think I can realistically make 650 with some help of my local brothers or sisters in arms. ;) Off to grab 36 today.

We're heading to E-rock Saturday and will be doing some caching there. There are only 13 in the park so it may not be what you're looking for.

Thanks for the invite. Have any of you done geo-jalopy, OFS or MCP? 45 in geo-jalopy.

jsargent

No, I haven't done them. I'm more about the process, not the numbers. I've done the three caches in Government Canyon State Park but not those (the Geo-Jalopy are all around the SP). If you like a hike I would recomend Cueva de Carmela (Carmen's Cavern) GCZ96J (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=aebf97f1-a616-441b-b94e-7dcc83998424#)out near there. It will take you several hours for the one cache.

Typically in SoDak I'm about the time with my boys, but here it's all about the numbers. It's not often I can do power caches that aren't 5 mile hikes in the woods. I have a few open seats next Saturday. I plan on doing MCP #1-108, Geo-Jalopy and possibly OFS. If I get a couple folks we can clean out 200 caches in about 5hrs. I plan on starting early in the morning, not zero dark thirty, just early enough so when MCP is done I can get chow in town. Then head out and grab the other 2 before dark/dinner.

Are you in jsargent? I know you like the process, but a power cache series is interesting.

Holy cow.. that's a lot of caches!! 200 in 5 hours?!

TheRo0sTer

Well I guess I have high hopes! I'm shooting for MCP by lunch and OFS before dark. I got insider info that MCP takes more than 3.5hrs and OFS shouldn't take but 2. Still have seats open! I want to be at MCP #1 by 0700.

How many caches did you log?

TheRo0sTer
10-31-2010, 12:43
147... Headed out after lunch to do Geo-jalopy 1-48. Plus a few straglers on that route. Should take a couple hours, heck I've got nothing else to do today since I went to church at 0830.

Headed to Austin to do GC2B034.

Did you find it?

TheRo0sTer
11-03-2010, 01:22
Yup that is a lenghty puzzle. Very darn cool too! I wish I had done it during the day. There is a cool spot with a killer view that isn't great at night.

I was going to do your multi/night cache tonight. Until the I saw the weather was shitty when I got off work.

jsargent
11-03-2010, 20:34
It's fairly straight forward. Pretty open, flat terrain and about a mile hike. It is pretty crappy weather for around here. I am planning on setting up one like GCRP5B. It was an awesome cache that unfortunately did not last very long

Might have to go out tonight to do yours. Do you offer a guide service? LOL

jsargent

I doubt you'll need a guide but I'll PM you my number in case you need a hint.

That was Ken aka rcsearcher. I was the guy wearing shades that says "In the five years I've lived here, I haven't seen as much as I have in the last year. I've seen more things, it's unbelievable."
