Ok, I am new to this forum, but here goes. I am an ex-Submarine sailor, who happens to be the very proud father of a soldier stationed, currently at Fort Rucker, Alabama. I bought this 1998 TJ last September for a song and a dance, and it only had 19,000 miles on it! I have decided to make it a rolling tribute to my son and all the soldiers that are attached to Army aviation, especially the Apache Longbow. I will post picks as it grows.
Let me know what you think!:)
New, but it has the spare tire cover, and a smaller rear bumper as my first mods.

New shoes in December. Studded snow tires 31", no lift.

2" spacer lift, 33" mud tires, Winch bumper, etc. She's starting to take shape.

Looks like it is coming along very nicely, and for a good cause. I dont know what i am going to fly yet but i am going for the apache.
Hey big dog,
I believe you may know my son. He just graduated WOC and is starting training in Fort Rucker too. When he first arrived in Alabama in April, someone told him about this website and that is how I got here. My son has a green TJ with big yellow KC stickers on the sides!
Good to hear from you!
New graphics, etc,

Looks good. Might want to consider a little more lift at some point, you'll get some good rubbing with 33s and 2in. of lift.
Wish I would have gotten those flares instead of the Bushwhackers, though...*sigh*
I have a 2" body lift waiting to go in. I am trying to do what I can 1 step at a time, without breaking the bank. 2" spacer plus 2" body should give me the space without the driveline mods necessary with 2.5 and up suspension lift (i.e., SYE kit and rear driveshaft.) I know these things are coming, but I need to get the gears and then do it as the money comes. I am sure you understand. Here's an interesting thought. I have been wishing I got the bushwacker flares! Why don't you like 'em? Also, what don't you like about your pro-comp setup?
Let me know!
This one is my favorite! Thank you all for your service!

Like the procomp lift, I'm just still running their ES 3000 shocks. Those are notoriously horrible and basically made for full size pickups. I'm just suffering with them until I do some other more important upgrades (rocker guards, diff covers, etc)...or until another one breaks :)
The Bushwhackers look great. I'll give em that. But basically I'm waiting for them to break. The ones you have are a lot more flexible (and less expensive). If you can see my avatar very well, you can see how far my tires get pushed up in the wells...sounds horrible and figure it's only a matter of time till they get shredded. That part could be fixed with a BL I suppose ;)
Definitely understand the stages thing. I did the lift, gears, tires, wheels after my first deployment in 2004. Haven't done anything until I got back from this last one. Now I've added the rear bumper from Eddie (Brzrk on here), winch, rocker guards (Rock Hards...go on this wknd), will be upgrading my Tie Rod/Drag Link due to failure this past wknd.
As for SYE...that's still on the drawing board for me as well. So far I've had no issues with vibrations, though.

mremala,
Which flares are the ones you have on your rig? Where'd you get the "we salute you" sticker?
Nice lookin' ride by the way.
I believe I got those flares from Quadratec, they are the 7" wide ones. The stickers are from Stickerblvd.com.
Thanks, as always, a work in progress!

Got my 2" BL installed this weekend......Piece of cake! 6 hours to do it, and I only need to adjust the linkage on the transfer case. Otherwise it was all pretty straightforward.
Pics to follow!

As you know, I love seein the pics of the Tetons- and the mountains as well!
Those pics you have of the green spring meadow, and the white bitter winter naturally make me think of the dusty summers, and brilliant red, orange blaze of fall you get up in the ID,WY,MT region.
Except for the alfa-alfa fields, and 15 metres on either side of the Colorado Creek, there aint nothin green in AZ 'cept cactus. It has it's own God blessed majesty- as most of this great country does, but I sure do miss seasons!
If you ever find yourself 200 miles west, lemme know- theres quite a few Jeepers here who would be happy to host!
