I went to visit whats left of Centralia, PA on 24Oct2010... it is a neat place with some interesting history.

where was the messed up road section? I was there in June and was disappointed. after the stories I had heard I expected more destruction I guess. Some nice trails and mining roads out there though

I heard there were some pretty cool places to off road up there.. would like to go and check it out sometime just to see the "history" parts honestly, but would like to hit some of the "trails" as well!!

You have to walk to the torn up road section. There are a few dirt roads that really go nowhere. Pretty cool history though.

We usually start at the block off that looks like a "run-away" big rig stop, then head up into town. We drove around some of the old coal roads, some interesting stuff back there.

Yeah I was looking at it... Big Mine Run Rd. looks like it goes to some places that could be fun... I might have to get up with you guys one time once I get my Jeep fixed up a little bit... and head up... just to see what there is to see... I have researched it many times online over the years... and I am not that far away really...

I will post up again when I will be going back... time frame i am looking at will be late spring, early summer after I get my lift on, well maybe before, who knows. Cant wait to get the lift on...

Then it will be an annual trip after that as long as it remains legal.

alot of places to wheel but all bootleg although nobody bothers you as long as you stay away from active mines but still bootleg none the less......not much going on for mine fire though a little smelly smoke coming out of ground and busted up piece of highway not really worth going to see unless your already passing buy or in the area...
