Haha....It's ok I make fun of the color Myself. I origanally bought it for the wife because she just had to have a jeep and she picked that one. But after two weeks she didn't want to drive it being pregnant. So I decided I'd keep it and have a little fun with it.

Yes ya'll I drive a Barbie Jeep.

Yep thats right I call it barbie gold. lol

As promised here are some pic's of the highlift mount and the bumper grip stuff.

highlift mount is just some chainlink fence post bands , bolt/wingnuts from Ace hardware for about $2.60 total.

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x175/distortedzr2/stuffstuff006.jpg

Here is the stuff i cut out and put on the front bumper. Used 3 pieces, picked it up from O'Reily's for something like 3 bucks apiece. I took a pic of the back where the part number and junk is for ya'll.

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x175/distortedzr2/stuffstuff007.jpg

Though Ya'll mite like this too.... Yes it is a real grenade. Picked it up from a surplus store here in town for something like 7 or 8 bucks.

Malmstrom? Not to get all off topic on ya, but how is it there? We were there in the early 80s while our runway was fixed. Had a good time out in the hills/Mountains out there. Wasn't an active base while we were there. And yes, it did snow in July while we were there....

Well I'm gettin close to finishing the storage box for the rear of the tub. It's been taking me awhile because I've been workin 12's on swings, and don't get much daylight when I'm not at work, taking care of the 4week old baby, and trying to get some sleep.

I'll try and get some pic's of it tommarrow or today? I still haven't decided it I want to cover it in carpet or shoot it with rubber coat. I've been leaning towards the rubber coat for duribility and waterproofing.

12-03-2008, 09:30
Well I've decided to shoot it with liner. I picked up some Dupli-color liner that I'll shoot on it with a gravity feed. Hopefully I'll get it done this weekend. The box is completely removable in sections. I've also been thinking of putting some footman loops on the top of the box for tie-downs for whatever junk. My highlift with come out of the garage and get mounted to the front of the box behind the front seats.

Didn't get to shoot it with a gun because the compresser took a crap so I rolled it on. It's fully removable. All pine wood.
Still have some stuff to do to it yet. Need to get the cargo net secured to the top of it. And a few other little things.

Well it's been awhile. I've been busy with "work"...as you all know we do work from time to time.

Time has come to FINALLY start putting my junk together. But since my last update, some things have changed and more toys have piled up in the garage.

Of course my axles ..but they are finished now...stripped painted and redone with chromolly axles.

Some of the parts laying in the garage...
JB conversions SYE
UCF ultra high trans/tcase skid (aka tummy tuck).
UCF engine skid.
all 8 Rokmen double JJ contol arms
Rokmen Hyline fenders with flare
Rokmen hood pins and hood trim
Rokmen fuel tank skid..."installed"
Airlines/wiring/pumps for lockers.
And more junk to be installed.

Waiting for my 37x12.5r15 Pitbull radial rockers to show up still.

both. The tranny skid is 3/16 and the engine skid is 1/4. Not worried about the weight to much I have three floor jacks and a tranny jack. One of them can do the lifting. :D

going to run 37 rockers. I have rokmen hyline fenders to install and a line on a AEV hyline hood. ;)

Don't think the Stock D30 and D35 would hold up to the tires. lol....well maybe for 30secs.

PS...I'm in MO at the moment on leave.

So progress. Been working on everyone elses vehicles.

As always my plans change day to day with items or ways to build this jeep. Off came the tire carrier today. I wouldn't trust a 37'' tire on it anyway. Sold it to a buddy for a case of beer. "shittybilt crap" anyhow. So now I'm debating what I want to do with the rear as far as a carrier goes. Either I will build one myself or not run a spare. Who knows?

Also have thought about a new paint job or color change. I will have to paint all the armor anyhow and the AEV hood so the only "stock" paint you will see is the doors (have half doors ready for paint) Windshield frame and the forward part of the tub where the sahara sticker is.

Idea's about paint? Send them at me.

More pics!!

I like stock colors. That way it makes people look at the details in the build. I'm actually going to send my CJ back to a stock tan when I get to Hood.

Either that or go gun metal. haha

I was thinking a deep slate gray. But also considering painting everything "barbie gold" you know the factory paint on it now. :D

Going to start tonight with ripping out the rear axle and rolling the new in. Depending on how it goes I may pull the T-case and install the SYE. Would be nice if the temp would go down a bit. 105* and 107* sucks. Above 100* all week.

I'll take some pictures for ya'll. It's hard to remember to take pictures when I get into something. I am the only one that has and is working on this build in the little spare time I have.

Ripped the "turd" out of the rear....

Por-15'd the frame from the front body mount back.

And slide the New axle into it's new home.

Bolted up the rear Rokmen arms and slapped the springs in and set it up on the tires to set the pinion angle.

Now it's time to order the front and rear D-shafts. Local shop will make them from my spec's.

With the tummy tuck I had to loose the factory muffler. So I'm looking for something a little smaller but still quite (ish). I'm not a glasspack on a jeep guy. Not my cup of tea. I need to address the fan shroud yet and slap the wiring/airlines in for the axles/lockers.

Ordered up my front and rear D-shafts today. Should be in tommarrow.

Got the new shafts and bolted them up. I ordered a new down pipe and "smaller" cat to fit better with the belly up, it came in today.. Should be putting it on in the morning.

Still have to address the fan shroud and Either make or order a rear CV tracbar bracket. Also going to throw my money at the Novak Cable shifter. I got a chance to install one on a friends rig, and it sold me. Very nice piece.

Thanks all. It's hard to get work on it done with my job, but that's how it is. I'll be waiting to install the body armor and hylines until my 37's come in. (they are waiting on enough orders in my size to make them).

09-17-2011, 16:42
Ordered the Novak cable shifter. (stock junk just will not cut it with the tt.)

Have to figure out what I want to do withe the rear tbar. Cant get it to clear the tank skid. But ill make something work.

got bored waiting on parts, so I painted my supports for the engine skid and started on stripping the skid.

Then got bored with that and annoyed that everyone and their brother buys grenade shift knobs. So I ripped the one I made many years ago off. Started looking in the garage for something to make a knob out of and remembered I had a tail shaft.

What happens when you get bored....

Well, pulled the tummy tuck, drive shafts and the rest of the factory z-linkage. Pulled the factory tranny mount and tossed it in the garage. Installed the LoPro mount and the Novak Cable Shifter. Highly recommend this piece.

Well did a little fitting and got the tummy tuck mounted back up. Had to bend the exhaust hanger on the cat to get it off the skid. But it is all cleared now. Bolted the dshafts back in and set up the pinion angle since the LoPro mount dropped the output on the tcase down 1''. (Which I needed for the rear trac bar to clear the tank skid and also clear the fan shroud up front).

And after a month of sitting in the drive lifeless, I turned the key and let her run for a few minutes.

Things left to do before it is road worthy (for me).
Bleed the brakes
and find a dang muffler. I like my rigs quite.

Still waiting on Pitbull to make a batch of my tires. I am biting at the bit to get my hylines put on. If they take to much longer I may go with another tire. Probally goodyears. Not sure yet.

And here she sits...crying for more wrench time...

Love the unique shift knobs!

I have a couple of broken axle stubs with twisted splines, might try to drill/tap them for my D300 twin sticks!

Cool Beans. Only real advice on them is after you get them fabbed up. Clean them real good and clear coat them. They will rust fast and go brown from the oils in your hand if you don't

FINALLY!!!!!! It's quite again.

Brown dropped off the muffler and tailpipe while I was at work. Installed it in 5 minutes. Easy and fit just like stock.

Finally got the rear shocks on...just used a cheap set of shock extenders on the axle end I had laying around. This is just until AEV sends my bracket for the frame. :D I have the AEV shock shifter brackets welded on the axle already.

Had to do this to get it back to DD duty for a little bit. I sold the 04 WJ, so now it is the search for the Tow Pig. :D

Not a whole lot of updates for installs lately...just a lot of painting and putting stuff back on it. Ended up throwing the winch back on for the winter because I don't know when I will get to the hylines. Also tossed the hardtop back on.

Currently looking for idea's for my spare. Keeping the rear seat in for the kids as that is important to take them wheeling with me. So it's up in the air for what carrier can truely support a heavy ass 37''. I like the Poison Spyder carrier but I do not want a stinger on it at all. I may just throw it on the trail trailer I have in the garage as a project for this winter. :D

Tweeked the control arms a bit to set the axle where I liked. Decided to test flex the axle and discovered the good old flat skid wouldn't let the drivers front drop to it's full potential due to the front d-shaft hitting the skid. Fix...called out the angle grinder.

Problem fixed.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH...Well...Winter projects for the jeep put on hold again. Was planned to have all the armor and hylines on with 37's and all ready for the spring wheeling season. Oh well...uncle sam just giving me more $$$ for parts and the build.

Not there yet. Still stuck "over there" for a bit longer. Had plenty of time to think about things and change my mind 50 times on what I want.

So...Debait....

Keep and install the Rokmen front Hyline Fenders with 4'' flare?
OR.....
Sell them and go Treks offroad flat fenders with 4'' flare and ext rear opening on rear corners?

Tires have changed too, ordered 35x12.5r15 Pitbull rockers.
