View Full Version : New to Military Jeepers
Recently purchased two jeeps, one of them is in pieces. I am sure I will have fun learning this. I am a pretty smart and hands on guy so it should be fun. Hope I dont bother to many of you with my questions.
Thanks

Welcome brother. What Jeeps did you buy? We are all willing to help out, so ask away. We only have one question for you... Wanna Get Weird?

Yeah for sure, details on the two Jeeps. Year, model, condition? What do you intend on doing with both? Never a bother, there's knowledge here. Not Jay though, don't ask him anything.

Yeah... I probably wouldn't ask Jay anything... And if he asks for your number or address, make something up. You'll thank me later.
Welcome...
We are also good at drinking beer and standing around pointing at shit while you fix your Jeep. Anytime you need help with that just let us know.

Eric/Matt, what does it say about the 3 of us that we are all on this forum at 0700 on our day off?
it says that it ISN't my day off... hhahahahaha... I work 7-7. Now what's your excuse?

It says that I have to give a Future Soldier PT test this morning.
how are you going to schedule a PT test on Veterans Day? That's retarded.

Guess I'm 45 minutes late. Guess that lables me as a Slacker!
Welcome to the board, Alan! Ask away any question you have, we'll do our best to help you and point you in the right direction.
You should come out and play with us this Saturday. I'm hoping to have my Jeep up and running, but if not I'll be hitchhiking!

Ha, yeah it wasn't a very well thought out plan. Oh well. Such is life on the recruiting trail...

What do you need to do to it yet? Need any help? Tomorrow I'll be relocating my air filter, but hopefully that doesn't take too long and I could give you a hand if you needed one.
I always have a back seat available for a passenger, but the passanger seat area is dedicated to the beer cooler :D
Thanks for replies. I have two CJ7's (85 & 79/84). One is in pieces and the other runs but needs some work, it has green roll on bedliner all over the body. So I am in the process of scraping and wire wheeling it all of and getting some primer on it for now. They both have 258 wT5 transmissions. I need to find a transfer case though for the jeep in pieces. Right now I am still recovering from surgery for another week or two. Then I will get the jeep broken down and in my workshop to start working on it.

I've been told Aircraft Stripper works really well for removing that stuff. Just don't get it on your skin.
it DOES work pretty well and will burn the shit out of your skin. It will melt nylon paint brushes too. Whatever you are brushing the shite on with will not last too long, so get plenty of applicators.

The future test was for my wife, so it was cool. We're both vets. Now we just worked in the driveway all day. E, Nick and I got some work done. If John was here we could have gotten his Jeep problems figured out too.

I work on helicopters and I haven't seen any strippers around.
Yeah John, if you were here we definitely could have broken it til it worked.

Rub it in, guys!!! Actually 11th was my anniversary. I figured if I got married on Vereran's Day, I'd never forget the date! Sebek's coming by to borrow my trailer today and I've got the kid hanging around, so I'm gonna TRY to get some stuff done but who knows how far that'll go......
