After initiating a post regarding the Jeep Wave (tm) on my local board, my comments were deleted by the 300lb nasty civilian web master/fascist for "truckism"- WTF!!!??? So, I'd rather share a common bond with people 2,000 miles away than bear the grudges of a stinkin Yota driver, who acts as lord and master of his domain, and can't deal with opposing points of view- respectfully submitted, mind you.

So, yeah- that's how I stumbled upon Military Jeepers!! Glad to be here, yadda, yadda, yadda... Call me a 'truckist" but dammit- JEEPs are not a vehicle, they are a LIFESTYLE, and ONLY IN A JEEP is part of our creed.
It's a Jeep thing- like those of us who have/are serving in the Armed Forces, I need to know even LESS about you- we few, we merry few, we band of brothers!

I am on my 3rd YJ, and while my DD is a lightning fast BMW 5er, as soon as I got stationed in Yuma (AGAIN! this was my 1st DuSta- 1990-1995) I knew that "Jeepin Easy, off the road I go" is the only way to enjoy the local terrain- so i picked up an abused and used 1990 Wrangler with 153k miles on it, and began imediately to make it my own. With a $2K sticker, I can do some fun stuff to it, although out of the box, she goes wherever I ask her to!

Anyway, enough about me- God bless you all, and God Bless America!!

An interesting tidbit of useless information. I live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I am an active user of the infamous "Jeep Wave". I notice that the response in "the hole" is about 15%. When I travelled down to Steamboat Springs, Colorado recently, the response is more like 95%. So does that make Colorado a more "Jeep friendly" state? I notice that if you see a jeep up here with any kind of mod on it, they will wave back.....otherwise, I guess it is just a car to them. HMMMMM.

Welcome aboard. Whats the temp. in Yuma today?

Jeeps are not a life style. Jeeps are an all consuming mental illness. I should know, I have 65 + full size jeeps-trucks, wagoneers, and cherokees-for parts and 1 driveable. Also, 5 XJs and 2 MJs.

We all know that JEEP is from the phonetic contraction General Purpose- GP=jeep.
It has evolved into another mainstay of the military vernacular, the acronym:
J.E.E.P= Just Empty Every Pocket...
Sure, when Uncle Sugar was paying for the parts, it was fun. As individual owners, we bear the cost of all those pesky axles, starters, drive shafts, engines, etc. It's a mental illness for sure!

I drove from Denver to San Diego with my dad in 1982- and went through Ouray, CO- "Jeep Capitol of the USA"; haven't been there since, i probably dont want to- just so that in my mind, it has NO Yuppies in Cayennes, X5s, Range Rover LR3's and- ugggggggh- H2s!

As a wee lad, I was taken into Jackson Hole- what an awesome display of Ma Natures rougher side... The Tetons remain in my minds eye all these years later... You are lucky to live in God's country!

For the record- the High Temp in Yuma yesterday was 115- i went to WalMart to buy, duh, Camo spray paint at 2030- the temp was still 103.
Every clime and place.....

I grew up in Southern Cal. Wouldn't want to live there anymore, but I wanted to raise my kids up here in Jackson Hole. A great place to do that. But now they are all grown and gone, and I ask myself "Why in the world do I still live here?"
9 months of winter has taken it's toll every year for the last 20. Summers in "The Hole" are usually perfect, about 10 weeks long, give or take. But if you lose one weekend on account of rain, thats 10% lost. Much too short. We put the jetskis on the lake last weekend, and it was PAINFULLY cold still! I am ready to take my toybox and go play elsewhere.
We are moving this year to Arizona of all places. Not exactly sure where just yet....depends on employment. But we are done with winters up to our necks every year!

BTW....how do they get that camo spray paint to come out of the can just right?:D

Awesome is way too overused- it should be reserved for things like that!

I know the 10 weeks summers can be a drag, but I would never tire of seeing that range. Just do what the other 95% of retired people from MN, MI, OR, WA, ID, MT and WY do--- come to Yuma for the winter! We call em Snowbirds (the city loves their money, and calls them 'winter visitors'), and they double the population here!

Thanks for the pic!
