When I came to Scott last year, I saw about 3 Jeep, all of which maybe have seen a dirt road on a bad day.

But we are multiplying! I conviced my OIC to buy a Jeep, I had a friend PCS in with one, and in the last few months we've had a few more guys PCS in with them. I've talked with a few other guys, and there's 3-4 more guys in my unit checking them out now too. I think we're sitting about 12 deep now. About 6-7 of those are close co-workers and friends who have actually gone wheeling with us and help each other when it comes to wrenching.

So,..with a little luck and some organization, maybe there can be a Scott AFB Chapter in the future.

I live not to far from Scott Air Base, in St. Jacob, IL... I haven't been on this site for quite a while. My job location changed, etc. Been fairly busy with work at the new place. I'm working over in South St. Louis now. The first Saturday of April there should be a fun "Mud Gathering" over in Livingston, IL. Just off of I-55 North. It is usually fun, lot's of 4x4 vehicles just playing in the mud. Looks like we are going to get some snow in the metro St. Louis area Monday evening. I have my front driveshaft off, need to get it back on. It's been about a year + since I've been on base at Scott. Used to see just a couple of Jeeps there now and then. Good to hear that more are getting about the base. Good luck with getting a Jeepers club going. It would be fun,,,,, Mike in IL

Sure do its called first class radio (1-618-797-3266). Take 270 to hwy 3 (granite city area) go south to light and make a right. They are on the right. Small place but he does good work.


I use a wilson silver load antenna. I think its one of the best fiberglass antennas you can buy. Remember the longer the better.

Ill head up there with you. I've been once and it wasn't very big at all. You could do all the trails in one day no problem. It was when they first opened so maybe they have made some new trail's. Just let me know.

No, sorry. My Jeep is my DD,...and that hog doesn't have any extra HP to pull a 100lb trailer,....let alone a tandem axled one. haha

Either of you have tools necessary or know a place that I can get some holes drilled into a bumper I bought... the auto shop has the tools just not the quipment. Im halfway through one side but would probably still need some grinding done after that and then the other side done. Heck know of a machine shop with a plasma cutter? Ill take anything that'll cut through steel at this point.

I was checking the SMORR site and it looks like the weekend of Camp MJ the SIJA Jeep Jam is going on also...so there should be no shortage of stuff going on. I have left a message to reserve a camping spot, hopefully they will be in touch soon. Cost is $7/night per tent, so pretty cheap. Also, I emailed the event coordinator for the t-shirt deal. If anyone is thinking of doing this one and wants a t-shirt and sticker, I think he will be submitting the order in the next day or so...

Sound off if you can make this one! I hope we can have a big SAFB presence!

A, Labor Day weekend (we should have a four day weekend), we have a group heading to Land Between the Lakes to go jeeping, camping and fishing. Let me know if any of y'all are interested. As Jet Noise (Jason) mentioned, a few Jeepers from here and one off-roader( ass-hole bought a Toyota) haha, from Charleston are hitting up Land Between the Lakes, Kentucky (Turkey Bay) for Labor day weekend. Here on Scott, that Friday before should be a "AMC Family Day" and we'll have the Monday off. We'll be camping out there, and it's only 3-4 hours away. Let me know if you can make it, and we can meet up sometime this week.

Careful. Everything over here is private property. Don't go jerking up some farmers livelyhood without permission. That's the only shitty thing about Scott. Nowhere close to scratch the itch. Why i haven't.gone anywhere yet.

yeah Trblmkr4 it sucks not having the free land act up here, but the trail didnt go far just about 100 yards into the woods to a big field, looks like it's used as a tractor shoot, and i am not one to tread on a farmers crop! i dont mind getting all kinds of scatches and dents down the side of the jeep, but shotgun spray wouldn't be welcome. would make for a good story though!

I dod not know of any places that repair yet, but remember that you can always hit the truck stops, they always have plenty of PA speakers, CB and CB accessories just in case you did not know.

I know there is one north of here past or in alton il....I can't remember the name of it and can't find my receipt. I know it took me 50 minutes in the jeep at 60-65 mph to get there. Searched online and still can't remember. If it comes up ill post it.

the CB shop in troy, IL had been closed. Store was empty last time I went by there, but it's been a bit. With the 2 truck stops there, perhaps another shop has opened.

We've kept this trip pretty low key, so it's not that large of a group. We are most likely going to stick to moderate trails, especially now that there is snow on the ground.
