I have been looking for a way to save a few bucks on the jeep, and wanting 33 11.5 (285 75 r16) it was hard to find a tire i liked. until i found treadwright retreads. the 285s were 80 bucks a tire and used the old BFG mud terrian pattern.
I know you guys have heard horror stories about retreads. I got them just before the heat wave hit the DC metro area, they held up to that. drove 75+ mph down to the trail and back hit some deep mud holes, not as deep as chris. and they walked right through. spun up on rocks trying to get over. abused the hell out of the tires, and they are still round and rolling.
the only gotcha with them is the seams are extremely obvious and it took 3-4 ounces per side to get them to balance but now they ride great and handle well even under heavy braking.
my vote if your looking for a cheap spare(up to 33in) or a good set of 33s cheap these are the way to go.
