Hey ya'll, with the current snow/ice/cold snap, everyone wants to go out, start their car and go back inside while it warms up......LOCK IT!

Yesterday and today there have been several stolen vehicles due to this. A guy I work with got hit yesterday, as well as several others. He went out, started his truck and when he came back out to leave he saw his F250 heading down the road!

I guess some people are hanging around neighborhoods at around PT time and looking for running unattended vehicles.

If you're gonna run it to warm it up, use an extra key to lock the doors.

Just figured I'd remind people.

Good info there. This is yet another reason I have remote start... That, and I'm INCREDIBLY lazy.

Yep! I love the remote start/alarm on my XJ! It's a CompuStar unit that jforse had installed before I bought the XJ from him.

You hit some of the small towns up north of me, and you'll see rigs running outside of everywhere! Homes, restaraunts, grocery stores, bars, etc.

Of course, when it's -30* and the wind chill is -50 to -60*, there's not a lot of car thieves hanging around :p

But yeah, a spare key is great advice. In my truck I use a plain key painted black on the end. Makes it hard to tell if there's a key in the ignition or not. (and lock the doors)

Even a locked car with a big keychain dangling from the ignition is vulnerable, don't take much to smash a side window.
