Anyone up for wheelin next SAT (22JAN)? Last couple runs lots of people said "I'm in!!" but almost nobody showed at Sonic......

I'm going because I've got a friend coming in from out of town and I've got to test out the new lift and 35's.

His pinion bearing pooped. Did you figure yours out?

jaredmcvay
01-18-2011, 12:27
Don't know yet... I sealed the transmission last night. Haven't driven it yet. Work is cutting into my schedule. I will check it out this week some time. I have a gear set here at the house for a 30, but it is a 4.56... prolly not what we're looking for.

XJMATT
01-18-2011, 14:56
I found a D30 rebuild kit for $75, but I've been told it is a shit ton of work and I'd be better off just picking up a new D30 at the JY.

If I am going to pick up a new axle I would rather upgrade, so I have been looking for a D44 front. I don't know what I'm doing yet.

jaredmcvay

There are 2 or 3 on CL today. just throwing that out there...

I'm thinking I just leave the HEEP in the driveway for the next month or two while I save up for beefier axles and lockers. Then when the 33's are toast I can upgrade.

XJMATT

I called them and they are all passenger side drops except for MAYBE the J10. He is double checking and getting back to me. He wants $800 for both axles, wheels, and brand new 31" tires. I could use the tires for the Durango, so that would work out.

I actually talked to one of the guys in Wilmington that Jay posted earlier. He didn't have any that were driver's side drop, but gave me the # to another guy. He returned my call a bit ago and said he has a set of D44's for me for $450 or $500 with the 8 lug wheels that go with it. I want to call Gina tomorrow to see what she has or can get. The guy said that he talked to Gina a week or so ago. When he gave her a price for a front 44 for her rig she said she can get them at a JY for $100 up here somewhere and turned his offer down.

GOVT1911
01-21-2011, 16:29
Yup. gonna be a few of us there. Me, a guy I work with wants to bring his Taco out, George with his school bus and Gina from Get Ugly said she's gonna try to come out and play. I've got a friend that is jumping in with me, too. Nick said he's going to try to get his seats mounted tonight and if he does, then he'll be out. Jay and Dave keep whining about needing to work on rigs, but I'm trying to get them to come play first.

I should be at Sonic NLT 0930, gotta get a nice greasy bacon/egg/cheese crossant before we roll out.

not really. I mean, I'm sure there ARE some decent wheeling places around here, we just haven't found'em! Guys go out and play around Mott Lake, but technically that's a no-no. I've attached a KMZ file which can be opened with Google Earth and you can see the various tracks we took throughout the dumps. Also attached are a few photos.
