This is one that I found elsewhere on the internet. But if your like me, more light is a good thing. I've always hated that the fog lights go out when you turn the high beams on...but now I have a solution. The pictures below are of my 06 LJ, but the relay number is exactly the same on the older Wranglers. Just take relay 35 for the Fog Lamps out, and on pin 2, bend it over so that it's out of the way. The relay is either under your hood on newer Wranglers, or behind your glove box to the right of the fuse box on some older Wranglers. (Sorry, don't know where the year break is) Now when you switch to highbeams, the fog lamps stay on.

Just a note:

It's illegal to have foglights on with your highbeams.

That said, I had a similar modification on my last car.

Where is it illegal?

It is illegal in some states, but for on road driving it usually isn't too smart either. If you need the fog lights you don't want your highbeams on. I did this primarily for off road use. It comes in handy for additional light on the trail at dusk and dawn.

true about hi's and fogs on at the same time, but if your like me and have NOT upgraded the head lights yet: then your head lights solo are about as good as a candle in the wind

Def. in VA. I had modded my SRT4 so that it allowed my highs and fogs to be on at the same time and I forgot to switch it to normal mode (I had a toggle switch) and I almost failed the saftey inspection.

even after upgrading to the best drop in headlights I could find the lights still suck. Driving lights are on my wish list, but a winch has to come first. I learned that lesson the hard way last winter (had to abandon the jeep and have a buddy drive me out; he couldn't get enough traction in the snow to get me out. It was a paranoid two days before I found someone with a winch to go up and get the TJ. I just knew the doors and top and radio and tires would all be gone.).

You sir, are a genius. That is a great mod. That will work great for back country roads where you want all the warning you can that bambi is about to jump in front of you.

Good info Scooter. I've been wanting to figure this out. As far a legality, as adults we should know when the right and wrong times are to have highbeams on with driving lights. Simply don't be "that guy" by using this on the street.

Edit: Just went outside and did this. Works good.

Foglights with highbeams are completely useless, get yourself some good driving lights!
