So yesterday I'm at home, getting ready to head back to work (6 hours away). My YJ is in need of an oil change. So I fix her up, throw in an air filter too, and carb cleaner for good measure. I top off with my normal 87 octane, and head on up the road.

Now GG is a 93 with 170K miles on her. She still runs like a top, but I've never been able to squeeze more than 215 miles....and that's on fumes...out of her 19 gallon tank. Well last night I got over 250. It was "raining to beat the band" and I didn't want to push it, but the needle was still just north of "E" when I stopped to top off.

Just goes to show what a little PM can do. The fuel economy alone paid for the materials it took to do it.

I'm a happy man.

As would I be if I could squeeze out anything over 180 on the jeep.

ditto on the PM helping, but if I got that kind of mileage, I would be towing my wife's truck to Texas rather than have her tow the jeep.

I thought my milage went to crap when I put my 33's on. But I'm almost ashamed to say that I'm sqeezing 240+ out of a tank on my LJ.:D

You guys got me feeling good about that kind of milage now.

FYI. Another trick for squeezing an extra 1+ mpg outta the jeep is to remove the airhorn off the front of the factory air box (if the factory air box is still installed that is) I actually saw a solid 1 - 1.5 mpg after doing so. Every bit saved at the pumps is a little more for the

Just squeezed out another 250+ tank of gas. I could get used to this!

Note:
These are non-stop (or almost non-stop) highway miles. Last time my avg speed was 55-60, this time 65-70. In between these two "highly economical" (for a jeep) tanks of gas, I had a city, stop and go, multi-trip tankful that got me my formerly normal ~210 miles/tank.

Still experimenting!

Damn. I may be doing some extra PM on my jeep this week. That would be some nice MPG to have.

I normally get about 150 the 15 gallon tank on the CJ. It should show some improvement when the Howell system is finished and I get her running.

This is my goal. If I get another 50 gallons out of a tank, I stop tinkering.

With 4.88's and 35's I get almost 250 out of a tank doing 65-70 on the freeway. City driving and anything over 70mph equals about 200-225 miles on a tank. My wifes TJ on 33's and 4.56's gets about the same, maybe a little better on the freeway.

Wow, now i feel pretty good about my gas mileage.. heh. Got a 20 gallon tank, but i swear i think it only holds 18. Anyways, I can usually go 400+ miles before I have to stop and fill it. That's about 20-22MPG. Not bad since my suspension is shot. Then again you guys are lifted and running bigger tires... im not.. I suddenly feel deflated again. heh.

I dont believe in 'babying'. I dirve like a madman, many individuals are scared to ride with me, including my own family :) You should see the look on the faces of the young men and woman i've put in the navy when I bring them back from the MEP's station in cleveland. I'll never understand why the govt. gives me a 08 Dodge Avenger to drive. hehe...:D
