If the wife and I stay here, I think it would be in our best interest to think about something like this as a joint venture... I really don't think this can be beat. If there were 10 of us that went in on it, it would be $75 for rent and splitting electric would be way easy. Just a thought...

It just might be more convenient than my driveway, because it can have better lighting when the sun decides to go down at night. It would also be a convenient place for folks like Skyler to keep their tubs/ frames until they have things to add to them. I know Nick's driveway isn't flat, but he does have a garage, but I am sure his wife wouldn't want him to shut it down for an extended period of time, and look at Sebek's when Dave's was in there. It would also be a sweet place to stash parts vehicles with out spouses knowing of their purchase. Just an idea that hit me. Hell, we could build a flex ramp for outside and move the kegerator there...

Well, sounds like Jay and I are in..... might be hard to come up with at least 8 more though.

I'll swing by tomorrow and check, but I'm pretty sure that Wilson's old spot on the corner of Cumberland and Boone Trail is still vacaant and up for rent. Check out the street view on Google maps and the pic is still from when Wilson's shop was there. That wouldn't be a bad setup either depending on what the rent is.

I'm in. I know for sure my wife would be on board. My concern is insurance and accountabilty. If something happened to the buliding, would the vehicles inside be covered? Same for burglary and vandalism etc... Accountability would be tough making sure everyones money was in on time and so on... That being said, if we can work it all out, I'm in.

I'd be in for a total of $100/month, if that included utilities. The biggest problem as I see it is whoever signs the lease is on the hook for the total rent payment and if some guys didn't pay their share.....
,
think about it. 75-100 for a whole month of a dry place to work on your rig.....no wife bitching about parts laying around, etc. we could blast music, drink beer, Sebek could wrench in his thong without the neighbors bitching too much......

Anyway, Jay or anyone else, for that matter, decides they want to go forward with this, I'd be willing to help as much as possible. One thing to think about is location though.....I mean, people would be more likely to use it if it was fairly close as opposed to someplace located in say, sanford. Well, Dave would use that one, but I'm not driving 30 miles to wrench.....

I really like this idea but I'm in no place to throw money at it. Plus I'm leaving in like seven months anyway.

IF we end up staying @ Bragg, you can keep your Jeep here. I would start it once in a while for ya if need be, otherwise, we could just store it for ya (unless you have better plans)

and i'm not going anywhere EVER, so I can always store it for you. I could even clear out a space in the garage, so it was covered the whole time. I wouldn't wheel it, but I could take it to work once every other week or so for you too.

Skyler, I'm thinking he DID mean your LJ when he said "tubs and frames"! LOL BTW, what's going on with your rig? Tank said he might have to move it outside under a tarp because it's just sitting there taking up bay space....Any word on the axles or other stuff?

Anyone have any garage space to hook Skylar up with, so his shit doesn't have to sit outside?

It doesn't have a motor either, right? Can't a bunch of us just lift it up and slap it on a trailer?

Hey, I ran by that place for rent tonight. I couldn't get inside, because I didn't call the people, but from the outside it definitely looks cool for all of us to chip in on. Ife ri you turn on Camden there at Walmart you take the first left at the bottom of the hill. Then the place is right back on the right at the end of a cul-de-sac with George Owen going right behind it. There are some decent houses on the road, a neighbor across the street and one right next to it that I would suggest we got to know to minimize the amount of bitching from them about loud tools/Jeeps next door.

It's not a definite yet, but I may need to start looking for another place to park my ass along with my Jeep/bike stuff. SO, if it would be possible I wouldn't mind renting that place if I knew I was going to get at leaset a few guys to chip in. Would any of you mind if I slept on a cot in the office there? :D This isn't a permanent thing with the wife.... just need some space.... that's all. Not sure how long it will last, but..... it is what it is. I could cover the utilities and pay more since I would be spending the most time there. I could keep a workbench and some tools along with the welder and a small air compressor for anyone to use whenever they wanted.

Anywho.... let me know what you guys think and who all are seriously interested. I don't think we should wait too long before pulling the trigger on this one.

Hey wierd idea for you guys how about the guys willing to go in on it now get it and who ever isint part of the crew using it pays dues to use the Bay. can be used for the beer fund or even special tools every one needs. at worst it pays the rent

I can call and talk to the guys tomorrow, but my credit is a bit sketchy right now, so not sure we want them running my credit score for the lease :D I'm good for the money I'm just lazy when it comes to bills sometimes.

I am in. I will be here for at least another 2 years. My biggest concern is insurance and making sure whoever goes in on this is committed. If we rent a commercial space, would we have to form some sort of LLC or Inc. for insurance purposes?

XJMATT
02-18-2011, 21:17
Not sure, but I'm committed and never leaving this shithole

yeah man theres no motor, trans, t case, axles, or seats. its literally the frame and tub. i suppose we could give it a shot. if not i guess we could try some contraption with a couple engine hoists or something.

We would be able to lift it with a few guys, no problem. I've got a couple trailers we could use. I didn't mean to start any shit or anything, and Tank wasn't bitching or anything, he just mentioned it the other day that he might need to move it outside (under a tarp) because it was taking up bay space.

As for renting the garage, I'm definately IN. I should have roughly a year or a little less left here. Matt, the biggest hurdle I see on this is actually getting someone to sign the lease.
I don't have a problem with you (or any of the other guys that get in on it) crashing there. I'm GUESSING it has an "office" where we could toss a cot or bed, and I'm sure it has a bathroom, but the question is, does it have a shower? I'm sure we could rig something up without much problem.

Funny thing is George and I were having pretty much this exact conversation yesterday.

haha John, I know you werent man. and i completely understand why Tank wants to move it. i think im just gonna bring it home until i get everything i need. like axles, coilovers, 4 link kit, and all that other good shit. which on a SPC income will be a while haha. that way i can do some stuff to it here and it wont be in the bay at GUC. Id rather it be in my garage than sitting outside under a tarp. So the next question is, who and when is anyone available to help me load that beast up? oh and John, can I borrow your trailer again?

XJMATT
02-19-2011, 11:06
John got the trailer all ready for me to move the parts XJ to my place. I wanted to move it sometime this weekend. I figure with it sitting in the driveway the wife will crack the whip hard enough for me to clear space out in the garage for it.

So, the trailer is empty and ready to go. I can help you move your tub anytime you want today, tomorrow, or Monday. I'm not back at work until Tuesday, so just let me know.
