My son was a passenger in an auto accident May 10th, 07, Leaving him a quadriplegic from the neck down. He was 23 then. My wife and I take care of him at home and we have never given up hope, stopped researching, or calling anyone. Well finally it has payed off. My sons story was told to Christopher Reeves Dr at a seminar, on a smoke break in the smoking area. He agreed to look at his records. He called my son on the 16th and told him he has an incomplete, instead of complete spinal injury! That's huge! He then asked my son if he could treat him and could we be at the Krieger Inst, John Hopkins on Mon the 28th! So tomorrow we head to Baltimore, Please say a prayer for my son. I'll update this post while we are out there.

Well we made it to Baltimore. We decided to drive. Everything went great until we passed through Pittsburgh and then the roads sucked after that, so my son was a hurting unit when we got here. Tomorrow he see's the Dr for the first time. Paid as high as $3.92 for gas on the turnpike. Thank you all so much for the prayers and i'll let ya know tomorrow nite how it went.

Glad you made it there safe! Hopefully the drive will be worth the suffering of the bad roads!

Prayers and thoughts still going out!

Ty you all so much. I strongly believe in the power of Prayer. Today went very well. Mostly a complete evaluation and electrical stimulation. Everything we have been told and learned back home in what is supposed to be a great Hospital is totally Antiquated. Tomorrow we see Dr McDonald and I'm so excited I can't stand it. I Know my son won't be walking when we leave, but at least we will finally have the right info and program in place to use at home. I've already learned the $10 grand we have spent on equipment is wrong. That goes back to them diagnosing his injury wrong and botching his initial surgery. That doesn't bother me as much as the fact that if he had the right treatment to begin with, where would he be? Just thank God and friends, we're on the right track now!;) God Bless all who are serving and have served, and bring them all home safe.---Dana

"Better late then never" just doesn't seem to fit, but I'm glad to hear that some progress is being made!

Praying for your son and you. Its always great to be able to read stories of hope and to be able to pray for someone on the up and not for someone on the down. Good luck to your son.

Sorry havent updated. Well the first week went awsome, then fri nite, Apr 1st Dereck (my son) got pnuemonia. Off to the ER. They put him on 10 days of IV antibiotics, staying in the Hospital. So he missed a week of therapy, but we still went through the training on new equipment and exercise's and accomplished a lot. New evaluation, better diagnosis, info for home, ordered some diff equip, and best of all we are home! So Mon. we start a whole new program! woohoo! TY so very, very much for your Prayers.---Dana

Awsome news Dana!! Let me know if ya need anything, I'll be around for the next couple weeks.

If ya get the itch, or have the need, to take the Jeep out and clear your mind a bit, a few of us from the NSW are heading to Gilbert on the 23rd for a few hours.

The Open House is on Sat May 21st this year, you're not a 'Newby' by any means, but if ya want to come up and help the NSW with the trail rides, you're more than welcome to.

Prayers still going out! Glad you made it home safe, and that progress is being made!

I talked to Dana a while back, seems his son is doing pretty good. Still making a weekly trip to Courage Center for rehab/Occupational Therapy type work.

The motor started knocking bad on his XJ, I do believe a 4.7 Stroker is in the works!!

Yeah, he's been saving for gears and lockers. Now that cash is going into the stroker.
