Hi all,

I'm doing a TDY up in Pueblo for the next 5 weeks, and from my research, there are three nearby trails that I'd like to hit (at the very least, more if they're open/I have time):

Independence Trail

Patriot Trail and

Liberty Trail,

all just north of Penrose.

Does anyone have any advice about these trails? Pros, cons, experiences?

Also, I'll be going on weekend wheeling trips pretty much every weekend (time permitting.) So if anyone wants to join up, just post up here and I'll have details for you as far as the plans go when the time rolls around.

Really looking forward to finally get a chance to wheel Colorado!

Those are hard core trails. I hope you're built for it and have the driving experience.

Yeah, I read up on them recently, and it made me even more excited! (I picked those originally because they were the closest ones and won't be snowed in.) I'm in a 97 TJ on 35s, R.E. Long arm lift, 8.8 rear (locked) and HP D44 front (open). Should be good enough to at least give them a try! If I can't make it, oh well, I'll winch out and find somewhere else. Also, I'm trailering the Jeep, so if I break it, it's not THAT big a deal.

Edit: haha, I used that exact site you posted links to when I read up on them the other day

independence is known to smash rigs. so do it last. If I can talk one of my buddies with a tricked out beater into trying it I'd like to go for the ride.

I'd most definitely be in (for the weekend of 21st or 28th, most likely) if you guys would be willing to go out there. My Jeep is rusting out from under me, so I figure that since I have to do a frame and tub swap anyways, might as well take advantage of the situation and beat the hell out of this one before I scrap it.

Then by all means, go for it and have fun. Enjoy your stay here.
