View Full Version : Not the Jeep, but...
Here's what I'll be towing with the Jeep...

It will have 35" BFG KM2's, 17" bead locked wheels (same as the ones on my Jeep), a roof top tent, and some other options. Here's the website with more pictures and other info...

I've heard very good things about these trailers. Keep us posted on your updates and how it holds up. I'm thinking about getting one too.

Why did you go with them instead of AT?
The Adventure Trailers, while capable, are a bit larger than what I was looking for. I don't have experience towing a trailer, and ZERO experience wheeling with one. So, I wanted something manageable on the trials. While I won't take it down a lot of trails, I will be taking it down the Rubicon Trail, Three Mile Rim Trail, and a few other trails that I will be camping on rather than returning to the start point.
This is a great sized trailer and has more room in it than the picture portrays. If you go to their website, you'll see what it looks like loaded to the hilt.
The one I'm getting is going to be customized just a bit. At the moment, I'm considering putting on 40" tires. It would be an advantage to have the same wheel/tire combination that's on my Jeep. However, I'm concerned about lifting it up too high. Will this make it unsteady on the road? The 40" tires would be wider, which would help a little. Would I need to make it wider (wider axel) to make it more steady?
Shot Robert at Outlander an email inquiring about 40" tires and what that would entail. I just heard back from him and 40" tires are a go. :D
Apparently they are custom building the entire trailer, so the sky is the limit. Very cool...can't wait to get it!

Sweet trailer! And good move keeping the tires the same as the Jeep. You have extra spares for the times the sh!t really hits the fan!
And an RTT (roof top tent) is great! Quick setup/takedown, and well built.
I got mine from Racktents, and I'm very happy with it.
I hope to do the Rubicon or Kokipelli trail one of these days.
Where's the Kokipelli trail? I haven't heard of that one before. I'll be going all over the country, so if it's good, I'd like to check it out.

I just checked out the link, the RTT they use appears to be the same as mine from http://www.racktents.com/Tents.html
If so, you'll like it, and the customer service has been great! I've always gotten replies to my emails within 24 hrs, even on the weekends!

that is just cool looking! I am building my own trailer, kinda like that, but that one makes my design look silly.
Actually, it's similar, but the RTT they use is this one...

Don't know if I mentioned it, but the tent will have air conditioning. :D

4400 lb Dexter Tube Axle
Axle sprung to 3500 lb w/Leaf Springs
