OK, I've got a question about my CJ. It's got an '84 drivetrain, 258, T4, Dana 300 and wide trac axles.

I just dropped the tranny -Tcase combo for an overhaul, and when I took the shift cover off to remove the 6th bolt holding the T case on, there wasn't one.

My last CJ, 151, SR4, D300, had 6 bolts holding the Tcase to the tranny, with one 'hidden' in the shifter housing. I thought the SR4, T4 and T5 all had 6.

Is there only 5 on the T4 tranny? or did I get an oddball that someone didn't drill out?

There appears to be room for the stud and nut, though I'm not sure if the 'shift block' would hit it or not. Going to look at that tomorrow.

So, anyone have any insights? Thanks, HB

I've only ever seen 6. Are you sure it is not broken off.

Yep, positive, there isn't even a hole in the tranny! The D300 has six holes tapped in it.

Wow, I've never seen that and I've pulled several behind T4s and T5s.

I'm thinking the tail end was made on Friday, about 4:30!

It's ran fine this long, so I'll leave it for now (since it's al back together now), when I drop the T-case to do the Lo-Max 4:1 I'll drill it out for the 6th bolt.
