View Full Version : How cold has your Jeep been?
I had just installed the 33s on when I realized that I couldn't pass up this photo op. So in the spirit of sharing pics, show how cold your Jeep has been. These were taken on the same day but across the street from each other. So it was a whole degree off in the sun...Fairbanks, Alaska JAN 2008.

I don't miss Fairbanks at all.
Wow, and I was bitching when it was 28 the other day. Good thing I did not take that assignment in Fort Greely. :)

WHOA!! You win. I have a nephew that works as an EMT up in Alaska. Had thought about going up and visiting sometime. Might have to wait until this Global warming gets there first!

Good shot gi!! I'm probably the closest to ya, Our lowest temp being -25F this winter. (so far)But, it doesn't count, becuase my CJ has been in the garage since th end of Nov. Getting new gears, lockers and a fresh engine. Although my Grand has been outside, and has een the only one to start a couple times. Then I used it to jumpstart my F150 and my nieghbors cars.
I miss Alaska, especially around September, when most of the tourists are gone.

-42 ambient. That was during the winter of 2004-05 at Fort Drum(yeh, I'm still here). Been kinda warm this year though.
Block heater and 5W-30 works for me when it's that cold.
i havent ever been to alaska, but if the extreme cold is anything like the extreme heat, hot is hot and cold is cold. i figure once you get down to 0 you go numb and it all feels the same anyway. correct me if im wrong. :D

Naw, zero is nice! Especially if your working hard! We warmed up to -15 derees F today. Monday it was 40 above, Tues morning it was -30 below with a windchill of -60!! Global warming my butt;)
By the way, after about -10 you get numb, unless it's windy, then it happens sooner!!:)

cold is cold...but this is DANG COLD! i know the pic says -40 but that is as low as it will read in the wife's grand. she has an auto-start and heated seats :), which is so very nice. some folks are claiming -47 :(, which is not fun at all. the worst for me is running in the am with ice on my eyelashes.
I hope I never ever ever ever get stationed anywhere near you.
But it is a DRY cold...and the summer sooooooo makes up for this madness.
