I bought some rancho shocks a while back and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to why there was no cable holding them collapsed when i got them.. I can collapse them by hand and they do not expand to full length on their own. Whats the deal? Are they supposed to be like that or whata the deal. These shocks are for a cj.. I was thinking they are due to the fact that im rocking leafs and shocks.

I have a set of those. It has been a long time since I installed them but I am pretty sure you just need to unscrew them. Make sure you unscrew them all the way though. That maybe your problem. I almost forgot to add, that my front ones were the ones that had to be unscrewed and those will pop up. As for my rear shocks, they don`t pop up. They move to where ever and stay there. I would imagine your shocks are just fine.

I just put 4 RS9000XL on my TJ and both the front and the rear extended fully once I unscrewed them.
