if any one is up for going back i would like to go before i move back to Texas

--------------------//
The following was added my MILJEEP on 20FEB2008 2257HRS

Diego (Pacifier) posted a heads up about a change to this ride later on in this thread, but I am going to edit this post to put it here for people that are just reading. The original location is not open for vehicles yet, so it has been changed to dry river. We ran dry river on 02 Feb, check the post for that ride in the trail rides section to view photos and videos from our ride down that trail. Here is the thread (http://www.beltwayjeepers.com/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3695) with all the important and most up to date info for this ride which is being run by beltway.

It is important that if you plan to attend, you must post up on the beltwayjeepers.com site for this ride so that they can have an accurate count for vehicles and people and also make sure that you have the required gear and paperwork filled out. You may post here and talk about this ride, but if you do not post on the beltwayjeepers.com site for this ride, you will not be able to attend. This is not only the nice thing to do when a club has opened the ride to non-members, but also a safety issue so they can make sure everyone is accounted for and has the vehicle and equipment to be safe on the trails

Same place? Dry River? I am down.

Just gotta make sure one of the GWNF vets signs up to go, because they know the trails pretty well. I have been to flag pole a bunch of times, but riding as the 20th jeep in a long convoy or in any other position than one or two keeps you from seeing the landmarks where everyone is actually turning. You pretty much just follow the taillights in front of you at that point. We lucked out having scott (elevatorguy) and diego (pacifier) on the last run because they knew dry river very well. We probably could have done it if we knew where the starting point was, but even then, there were some mud holes that they told us to not even try because they were just too deep and we would not have known that without them.

miljeep

I always bring my family. I think they have a blast. I would say do it on the first of march. There is another trail ride on the 23rd for another club in this area. Plus, it gives us a chance to try to help jeb fix his rig so he can join us.

I don't think we are going to get snow anymore this year. You should be good. It won't snow until I move to another duty station, then it will be the blizzard of the century.

Maybe here, Alhambra, VA?

miljeep
02-05-2008, 21:12
couple miles south of harrisonburg va. Basically, up 95 north, then 495 to 66 west. take 81 south forever and when you hit GWNF, go a few more miles south. I have not been there, but they say it is better than GWNF.

Josh and I are talking about doing the 23rd run with BWJ then setting up a run the very next day for dry river. We're going to camp, but will probably meet up with anyone that wanted to show up.

miljeep
02-05-2008, 21:23
Maybe someone from beltway will camp and stay for the dry river run. have josh post over there and make sure that they are still allowing non-members on the ride. I did not see anything that said member only ride. I asked about an extra person going, but they said miljeep, plus family plus one and I am not sure if they meant that extra "plus" being a shotgun rider.

Pretty sure he'll just have to sign the waiver and stuff. Josh, post up over there :)

miljeep

It would be cool to wheel with Josh before he rolls out.

TexCJ7

not a problem as long as i don't have to raise my right hand again

What's BWJ running on the 23rd?

Might have to see if I'm available for it, if they are allowing non-members.

Big Levels/Shoe Creek, VA

Been reading about Shoe Creek on Capital Jeeps, they seem to like it as well.

Let me read some more on it, and I'll check my availablity and if I think the XJ can do it.

LAst I knew they were allowing non-members. you just have to post up on that specific thread over there. It is to a new spot I had never been to before, supposedly better than dry river and a little south of GWNF.

Read a few of the trail reports, but I kinda want to do Salt Shed/Dry River with the XJ this time.

So what's everyone's plans for the 23rd?
I can see if Georgia wants to go as well with the YJ.

TexCJ7

looks like it is still a go for me and the family

muddyluxury
02-15-2008, 15:47
ryan, why on earth would you send anybody north to go south?? if they are north of f-burg, south of belvoir take 234 all the way out to 66, just dont follow pw parkway when it hangs a right and your golden.

if your coming from say f-burg to richmond, take 33 out to h-burg.

south of richmond, head out 64 to 81 and turn north.

but i have the steering stab, thats going intonight and that should allow me to wheel lightly/drive until the i figure out what to do with my steering box, i think it gave up the ghost.

If you are going and are not a member of beltway jeepers that already has this on file, you need to complete the forms that apply to you.

You can find them on the beltway site, or just click these links for the pdf to print out.

Well I posted on the 24th thread here and on the Beltway's 23rd thread. So I'll fill it in here too.
Yeti, Georgia, & Little Yeti all riding together to do the Dry River/Salt Shed run with Beltway on the 23rd. She's working on Sunday, and I'm helping at Bob's on Sunday so Saturday is the only wheeling day we have.
