ABS conversion

Has anyone ever heard of an aftermarket AntiLock brake system? My brakes just locked up on me on the drive home from work and I ended up in the middle of the crosswalk after the stop sign so I am thinking that either I need to remember to pump my brakes or I need to find an ABS that will work with an 89 YJ 4.2L

If you are wheeling a lot, you do not want ABS.

with ABS you dont pump.

Off road I perfer regular brakes, in mud I think ABS takes longer to stop. My reason why; With regular brakes you can pile mud/sand whatever in front of the tire while braking and stop pretty quick.
ABS wont let that happen very much.

MJ'ers with ABS on the newer Jeeps tell us what you think?
Can you put a switch in to turn it on and off?

I don't want to sound stupid but why not?
The biggest reason is that you don't want the ABS system to turning on during some conditions/situations. Water and mud can cause them to activate when you may actually need to drag the back end.

One of the things you could do is uprgade the master cylinder to the newer ones from a TJ or newer YJ. You could also go to rear disc brakes and have your tires siped for more traction. What size tires are you running?

I have the same problem in my 95 YJ and have often wondered the same thing. with 35's if anyone pulls out in front of me my winch is gonna be sitting in the back seat of there car.

Running big tires, (bigger than stock) you need to keep the brakes in tip top shape, or upgrade.
