What unit are you going to?
No wheeling on post. If you want to wheel in the NoVA area you will have to drive a ways out from Belvoir.
As for things to do in the immediate area, depends on what you like to do. If you like to golf, then there is plenty to do. If you like to do things that involve peace, quiet, and conversating with people in the English language, not so much.
As for living, it really depends on your BAH. Are you looking to buy or rent?
How long do you want your commute to be?
I live in Woodbridge (13 miles to Tulley Gate) and it takes me roughly 35-50 minutes to get to work and get home.

I should be goin to the engineers. So can u do stuff like fish on post or wat. Also not really in to golfing more in to outdoors type stuff or goin to some country bars/clubs. Of course wrenching on the jeep. I know 6flags is pretty close as well as DC never really did much in DC though. Also I plan on renting it it needs to have a yard and a garage. You are saying woodbrigde is nice 13miles and it takes you 35min minimum. Wow well lookin forward to wrenchin or wheelin with u all. You do meet ups in the area.

Depending on how long you want to be on the roads in the mornings/afternoons. Woodbridge has some decent cheaper areas. You might want to look into Fredricksburg as well. It's a little further south, but definitely has better prices.
You can fish/hunt on belvoir... definitely no offroading though.
We've got GWNF which is the only free legal offroading in the area. It's about a 3 hr drive depending on what part you're going too.
We've also got Rausch Creek, about 3 hrs north. It's a decent pay park.
Crozet and Big Dogs are private, but have open wheeling through out the year.
There's a pretty big following in the Nova/MD area, you should have no problems finding a jeep club up here. Miljeepers usually has some sort of meet and greet every month. You've also got offcamber crawlers, beltway jeepers and novajeepers in the area.
6 flags is in DC... not the best of parks, but it's something. There's also Bush Gardens down in Williamsburg and a Kings Dominion just north of Richmond.

If your going to the 911th Engineers you will find that your going to be in good hands. There are a couple of MJ'rs that are in the 911th, but I'll be nice and let them say something first.
Good folks around the DC area, you will like the jeepers there. Good luck.

As for outdorrs stuff, plenty of fishing, deer (bow only), and duck hunting. You can also hunt Quantico for deer (bow, shotgun, and muzzleloader). Fishing is plentiful everywhere in the area. If you like to camp, there are also plenty of campgrounds around as well.
Check out the different military bases in the D.C. area and thier MWR opportunities.

There is plenty to do in the area as far as sightseeing, sporting events and such. Camping, hiking, fishing available not to far away (Burke Lake Park, etc.)
THERE IS NO WHEELING ANYWHERE ON FT BELVOIR. The game warden will arrest you, take you to the PMO and charge you with tresspassing and destruction of government property. Ask me how I know.
There is plenty of wheeling to be had, mostly in the spring and summer though. You must travel two to four hours on the average to get to it from FT Belvoir.
PA: Roush Creek off road park.
VA: George Washington National Forrest, Big Dogs - Winchester, Crozet, and the OAK Ridge events like Camp Jeep, VFWDA and UFWDA events. Plus the beach on the coast and other trails like State Line.
NC: Uwharrie National Forrest and the famous Upper Tellico.
Those are just a few places to go. There are many others.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale:
I had been assigned to HRC in Alexandria for about 2 years, only went to Belvoir for gas, haircuts, and the Comissary/PX - so I was blissfully unaware that there was no wheeling on post. I had trained with some of the Engineer Soldiers and they knew I was a Jeeper and relatively proficient in vehicle recovery.
One of the new Soldiers to the Engineer Company goes out wheeling at lunch and gets his new JK Rubi sunk to the axles in the mud back down a dirt road. They call me around 1300 to come recover him. Recovery had already been attempted with a full size pickup and 12,000lb winch. I leave work at 1700 and he is still stuck. I go out there and we dig him out, put traction aids under the tires, lock his axles, air him down and after anchoring my Jeep to the full size pickup and rigging a doubble line pull - just start to pull him out.
Then the game warden shows up and waves his gun in our faces (We are all still in uniform on an Army base ). He forces us to de rig the recovery, leave the JK there and follow him back to the PMO. We were all questioned and initially held. After 3 hours evreybody but the JK owner was released. He was the only one charged. They started dropping the charge on the rest of us when I pointed out in my sworn statement that I was unfamiliar with the area, had seen no signs that the area was off limits, and passed through no closed gates.
Funny part - now I am those same Engineer Soldiers 1SG (Old guy out front with the diamond)

Well, hear some on this board (USMCHARLEYJEEPGUY ) talk, when I WAS in we didn't have "motorized vehicles". Maintenance was done at the CORRAL, not the "motor pool"
Actually, we had to "walk the woods" as Terrain Analysts (81Q), which is how I became familiar with the area. :D
"ESSAYONS"
The only country bar in the are that I know of is NIcks in Alexandria--its pretty preppy and a bit of a drive from belvoir. Ned Devines in Sterling has country nights during the week but again real preppy and even further.

I think Ned's in Centreville has a country night also, unless they've canceled it in the past few months... closer than sterling, but still a long drive from Belvoir.
Nick's is interesting.... usually packed full of Marines though

Please don't take this as offensive, it is said with the greastest respect:
Thanks for the compliment TOP. We TOPO-types don't get many kudos from people cuz we hang out with the G2-types most of the time. Especially from other Engineers. Glad we were able to help you guys out.
