What's a good price for a Dana 30 w/ 4.56 gears already in it? Assume good working order. A buddy up here has a totalled TJ with a front axle good to hook and my front axle happens to be shyte. Don't want to screw him, don't want to get screwed.

Is there anything else done to it? New u joints, axle shafts?
I just saw one on pirate with 4.56 gears, hd steering, and arb for $1k
I've seen a few adds on craigslist for stock d30's at about $150 a piece.
If it's stock with the gears I'd offer $300.

Yeah...i'm thinking 250-325 area. Nothing else done. Stock with gearing.
He said that the lower control arm mount is bent and told me that I'd have to see if for myself. If it's something I can fix with a hammer, I'm pretty sure I'm going to take it.
If it has a bent mount, and all it has is gears I wouldnt spend over 250 for it and that is being generous. You can get D30s a dime a dozen in junk yards.

If it's got bent mounts, offer him $100 less and get a new pair of mounts welded on.
Unless you can find another D30 with 4.56 gears, it will still be cheaper than buying and regearing another axle.

I would agree. The OEM mounts can be broken pretty easy (ask me how I know) and if it's bent, it might tear when you try to straighten it.

You might try contacting the Auto Hobby Shop at Willow Grove. I know it is a bit of a hike from where you are (about 45 min. to 1 hr). If you need the phone # let me know I can get it for you. Also, let me know when you are going to start on it and I will adjust my schedule to give a hand.
