View Full Version : Trying the "chapter" thing out.
We have enough members in the fort Hood area that I am trying this "chapter" thing out. Having chapters where there are a decent amount of members will allow those on the ground in that area to work with local vendors and businesses to get discounts for those members living and working in that area. It could also be an easier way to push out information to those in that area by having their own mini-site on the MJ server that someone heading up that chapter controls the content of. Wrinkles are still being ironed out, but the mini-sites all look similar to make updating the templates easier since I if they looked different, I would have to update every single site separately and that could take forever.
Each chapter would be able to post their own local sponsor info, meet and greet info, news and more and then be able to share the link with others to their chapter's page.
Since the Fort Hood chapter is new, there are not much on the pages, but a I get a chance to work with some local vendors I hope that the chapter's info will grow.

sweet, looking fwd to seeing it work!!
trying it for fort hood to work out the problems.
Put Ft Leonardwood down for the next. We have at least 4 ACTIVE members here and MANY inactive.

Just trying it out because it seems like I can get some deals and discounts down here that would not mean much to people outside of the area, but people local to fort Hood may like to know about them. This also allows me the chance to post up some info specific to this area on the chapter site.
The good part is the mini-sites are all hosted on this server and use the same software as the rest of the non-community part of the site. It is easy to use and like using a word processor to put pages up. the bad part is that each mini-site is it's own site on the server when viewed in the CMS, and to make it as easy as possible for whoever is adding pages for the specific chapter, and also for me when doing updates, I use one template across all the pages, so they look the same no matter what chapter you would be on other than the content they add.

Sounds great! I know there's a lot of guy's in the MN, WI and Michigan area now. Having a Chapter would be cool for things like local 4x4 shops, events, discounts etc.
Keep us posted on how it works at the 'Hood'!

Chapter?? Which way to Section 8? LOL
as far as other jeeps, hood isnt really that friendly for some reason? waving to other jeeps here, well you might as well be a dear standing in front of a semi. it is to bad that the training areas that are not in use cannot be used for offroading

Lots of jeeps, but I have probably only got 4 waves here since arriving here in the beginning of Nov. Hell, one of them was from the III Corps CSM as he rode to work in his jeep.
For the first time since I can rememebr I got a wave the other day in an XJ!!!!!!

Would that be CSM Neil Ciotola? probably so since the last time we spoke he was still working on the restoration of his Jeep. I can personally say there has never been a finer NCO than him. And you can tell him I said so. Just mention the bald guy with the ugly brown CJ7...he'll know. Would also like to be associated with the FHTX chapter. A little over 3 hours away with very little off time isn't out of the question is it? Hell, throw TexCJ in there too...he is closer than I am.

I'm in. Especially when it comes to wheelin' trips. I've been to a couple of the nearby venues (Katemcy Rocks and Long Ranch). Can't wait to meet up with some of you when I redeploy!

I'll be back around the end of the summer. Long's Ranch is a great time. Trails, rocks...a few challenging obstacles. Some good climbs.

Hello i am new to this jeep forum ive been here at hood for a good while now and have owned my jeep for a year now, as far as the wave goes here it seems to be good as long as you are on post for the most part. I do get them in the killeen area also but not as much.. there are a ton of people that have jeeps here but i think they are unaware of this site and jeep customs. I would like to know more about meets around this area.
