View Full Version : Squeeky seat
Hey everyone... I just bought a new 08 Rubicon, Ive had it for about 4 days now and today the drivers seat started squeeking... (and before you ask... no, im not a lard a$$) Im just wondering if that was a normal occurence in Jeeps or should I take it up to the dealer... the squeek sounds like an old car squeek anytime im turning or hit a bump.
Check to make sure the bolts are tight holding the drivers seat to the floor. Welcome to the wonderful world of owning the jeep and the new game that you will eventually get good at called "what's that noise and where is it coming from?"
I've got an '08 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon too...don't have the seat problem though. As miljeep suggested, check to make sure all the bolts are tight. You may also want to try putting some WD40 on a rag and wiping down the parts underneath. Dunno...just throwing out some ideas. It's got to be annoying.

Since you just bough it, I'd take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.

X2 I would be sitting at the dealers door tomorrow when they open.

Take advantage of that brand new warranty! Sounds like it's something minor though. When I bought my TJ X in 2004, about a week after I got it home, the driver's seat actually broke at the recline hinges. Talk about difficult to drive to the dealership!
Oh yeah...he has a warrantee! Dude, take that to the dealership and have them go through the trouble of fixing it. I forgot about the whole warrantee thing because I've pretty much killed mine (once it's lifted with the axles swapped out, you're done). Heck, I've even switched out the seats, so I'd have to fix my own squeaky seat problem. :/

I just crank the tunes! Warren T. Who's that? I hear he only works on new vehicles.
Thanks for the replies... i noticed today if i moved the seat forward one notch... it didnt squeek... i slide it back and it starts squeeking... i think ill try a little wd-40 where it all meets and see if that works if not, guess ill bring it up to the dealer. Thanks all!
Oooh.......How I long for the days when I would worry about my seat squeeking.:D

I eliminated my squeeky seat by moving my dates to the outside of the Jeep.

"What's that noise and where's it coming from?" HAHHAHA LMAO It wouldn't be so funny if I hadn't played that game so many times.

If it is new, you should have a bumper to bumper warranty for some period of time. Take that thing in & let THEM fix it. You paid for it!
